What I find weird is that its almost six months after election and someone just now see them on the sidewalk.

(27,444 posts)CA primary is in a few weeks. I think these were ballots for the primary, no old completed ballots. New ballots are being sent for those whose ballots were in that box.

(2,244 posts)Point being that the OP was thinking they were from the last election when they are for the upcoming primary.

(9,073 posts)Because of Covid, changes in address, family, etc., we get like eight ballots in the mail for every minor election. It's lovely. Just giant packets of paper clogging us up.
Anyway, tis the season with primaries and local elections, so ballots have been going out for the past week. They're pretty ubiquitous since we're a vote by mail state.
On edit, this story seems like a case of a postal worker either losing them somehow or just not giving a flip. I see it. Seriously, the mail-in ballots are very thick, heavy packets. Everyone gets them, and I can only imagine it's one of USPS workers' least favorite times of year.

(9,073 posts)I just don't see an obvious nerfarious political motive in it. More a question about what was up with the postal worker.
Plus the OP and others don't seem to know we're in the midst of an election.

(25,323 posts)When Elections brings ballots to the PO to and from the PO, it's a much different situation that when a business brings in a tray of bulk mail.
Where I live in San Antonio, there is only one Elections Office. They work with only one Post Office. All Elections Mail sent and received goes through this Post Office.
When voters mail their ballots, it will first go through their local zip code Post Office and is routed to the Post Office associated with the Elections Office.
All postal workers are aware when there is an election.
This is not good. Sorry.

(25,323 posts)Yes, but..HTF did that happen?
Here is the process. Something went wrong!
1. Tray is filled at the Register's Office
2. Register's Office carries tray to the Post Office
3. Post Office processes and mails the ballots
So did someone from the Register's Office discard the tray?
Did a Post Office employee discard the tray?
Not good!
