ready to dismantle the libel laws. The 1964 case, NY Times v Sullivan established the precedent -- the standard of intentional malice that had to be proved. While POTUS he said he wanted the libel laws changed.
TFG has a real grudge against plenty of cases he lost: He sued the NYT and WaPo for publishing opinion pieces about his relationship with Putin; The Chicago Tribune for criticizing his taste in architecture; an author for writing that he wasn't a billionaire and a former Trump University student for asserting that the university wasn't an actual university.
He lives for revenge. And he'd have the court of last resort in his pocket.

(1,666 posts)we failed in 2022 and 2024 due to gerrymandering and not enough blue getting out to vote. Dismantling libel laws will be the least of our concern. Our elections thereafter will not be real elections, as we wont be a democracy anymore.

(9,225 posts)rather than intentional malice. Actual malice requires publication of something knowing it to be false, or with reckless disregard of whether it was true or false. It is not malice in the sense of hatred or evil intent.

If they had half a brain, they would play up Biden every breath they take. Trump means disaster for them.
