Actually, we need him to act like a Democrat, and SUPPORT the Democratic Party, its policy and the Democratic president we have.

Biden appointments and nominations.

But we need to elect more Senators.

That’s the same as Elizabeth Warren, Raphael Warnock, and Tammy Duckworth.

He has voted for every single one of Biden’s judicial nominees. Voted for the infrastructure bill. Voted for the postal reform bill. Voted for the ARP.

How many things never came to a vote because of the threat of a filibuster or Manchin taking the republicon's side?

That "votes with Biden" percent would be far lower.

What about the BBB which would have benefitted so many Americans?

federal judges, along with significant legislation like the ARP, the infrastructure bill, etc.

You want even more done? We need to elect more Democrats. It's that simple. West Virginia is the reddest state in the country. Just because Manchin isn't AOC doesn't mean he isn't a Democrat or that he has not been vital to passing Biden's agenda and getting his nominees confirmed.

Think how much more Democrats would have to run on (actual accomplishments instead of promises or scary reminders of how bad republicons are) if every Democrat had worked to support Biden and his good liberal agenda instead of doing the bidding of Moscow Mitch. Those things would have been important to and far more noticed by the inattentive public.

Also, I'm pretty sure every regular reader here is well aware of how red WV is. It gets old being expected to shower gratitude upon the guy stabbing us in the back when he hands us a bandaid from time to time.

Meaningful?

https://www.businessinsider.com/manchin-joins-gop-opposes-raskin-biden-nominee-fed-bank-regulator-2022-3?op=1

Sarah Bloom Raskin, President Joe Biden's choice for the top banking regulator at the Fed, already faced a steep uphill battle for confirmation. Sen. Joe Manchin might've doomed her chances for good.

The senator from West Virginia came out against Raskin's nomination to be Federal Reserve vice chair of supervision on Monday, placing a new hurdle in front of the confirmation process. Raskin needs support from at least 50 senators to be confirmed to the position, and with the legislative body split along party lines, Manchin's decision forces Democrats to either change his mind or look to the GOP for support.

Is it your assertion that I think Manchin has done the right thing every single time?

Manchin is a Democrat from the reddest state in the country. He's not going to be on board 100% of the time, but he most certainly is a Democrat and 1000x better than any Republican in Congress. If we don't want him to have so much leverage, then we need to elect more Democrats.

Republicons are passing anti-voter laws all over the country. Gerrymandering. Exploiting the screwy system.

And the federal legislation which would have protected us and undone their damage was blocked. Do I really need to remind anyone who helped republicons block it?

What I will take a moment to remember is the beginning of this congressional session. Apparently, there is no Senate rule requiring the outgoing Majority Leader to hand over power to the incoming Majority Leader. Probably not many people knew that. It was a surprise to me that Moscow Mitch could refuse. Because Schumer did the right thing and wouldn't agree to his demands, Moscow Mitch had to find a couple of turncoats. His satisfaction with them is all anyone really needs to know.

MVP Harris is making history with the number of ties she has broken. We really do not want to run Manchin out of the party

Partisan control of the Federal Trade Commission generally isn’t a front-page issue, but many Democrats on Capitol Hill and in the Biden administration take the matter quite seriously. And as Vox reported, that’s what made yesterday’s developments in the Senate so notable.

It took eight months of hearings, nominations, health-related delays, and a tie-breaking vote from the vice president, but the Senate has confirmed Alvaro Bedoya as the Federal Trade Commission’s fifth commissioner. More importantly — and almost certainly why his confirmation was such a drawn-out and contentious process — he’s its third Democrat, and soon will likely be a deciding vote himself
.

......Regardless of which tally is correct, Harris is now in the top three for tie-breaking votes in American history.

Holding down the top slot is John Calhoun, who served as vice president from 1825 to 1832, and who broke 31 ties in the Senate over his tenure. In second place is John Adams — the nation’s first vice president — who cast 29 tie-breaking votes in eight years.
