Inflation has peaked, drops slightly in April

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/inflation-consumer-price-index-cpi-usa-april-2022-123135066.html

Still high. But of course, it's completely dishonest to talk about inflation without mentioning wage growth. Wage growth was almost 6% last month which is muting much of the effects of inflation. And wage growth among the lowest earners is over 8%, basically enough to make up for inflation.

This has peaked and should start to come down in the coming months now. Get it down to 4% or less by the Fall and it won't be the big story anymore. Of course, now we're fighting a possible recession too.

2. That's a quite positive view. Here's another-- "Inflation barreled ahead at 8.3% in April"

Removing volatile food and energy prices, so-called core CPI still rose 6.2%, against expectations for a 6% gain, clouding hopes that inflation had peaked in March.

Yeah, I know, it's the media and inflation is actually transitory, temporary, a hoax, won't have any impact on election, etc.

Depends on the network you watch. FWIW - recession indicators do not currently point towards a recession anytime soon.

5. The economy shrunk last quarter

But I agree that the economy is still strong overall. Mainly because the economy has always been a bottoms up economy and UE is near record lows while wages are climbing. Wages are climbing for the lowest earners faster than the rest, and these are the people that spend all their money and drive the economy.

6. Are there any economists saying inflation has "peaked"?

Over the past twelve months inflation has fluctuated. I’m not sure one can say with confidence that it won’t tick up again in the months to come.

7. The fact that is has sustained another month further at 8%+ is really bad

The longer this is sustained, the greater the cumulative harm done to the people.

Wages aren't keeping up at all, each month family's buying power is reduced further.

8. Inflation did not peak.

The rate of the inflation increase went down slightly in a one month period. Inflation is still going up and going up rapidly. It is tone deaf to dismiss it because of alleged wage growth.
