And beat down the messaging that Dem's don't get anything done, with, we'll get more done when we have enough seats to get past filibusters.

with 60 solid True Blue votes. Too many states have went to the dark side on at least a semi permanent basis, especially in the Midwest and Plains.

Either the filibuster goes at some point or we can forget any sizeable Dem initiatives and programmes being passed that do not come under the umbrella of Reconciliation.

Sometimes a couple is all that is needed.

I don't know if that opportunity will exist again like it has the past two years (for putting aside filibuster for voting rights). I sure hope it does.

Most blue seats are already taken, which means Democrats need red.

But Manchin is proving there's little point if they just vote red anyway, and this hurts the call for "we need more Democrats."

Collins is making a ridiculous excuse for not voting for the bill. Not sure which way Murkowski is leaning but she’s probably a No as well. None of this is surprising in the least.

But then a few bills actually made it to the floor for a vote instead of being filibustered, so his stats dropped.

It’s a shame people rely on stats to define Manchin’s value, when his merit can more clearly be determined by the measure of his character.

That is not reflected in that misleading vote score. They also gut the hell out of things in Bilden's agenda that do finally pass.

My mother was from WVa, so I know the culture. Those people are VERY conservative and religious. Manchin couldn't get elected if he was pro choice, so he votes accordingly. It's no surprise to me.

Outside of the cities, the people there are beyond dirt poor. I'm talking third world poor, no indoor plumbing, no shoes for your kids poor. Any way they can get some govt money (Social Security, AFDC, disability, food stamps, etc.), they'll get it if they can. Outside of the coal industry, there are NO decent jobs there. Govt money means survival. Nearly every rural house with a good sized yard has a vegetable garden next to the house (fresh produce is expensive), as well as a small flock of chickens. As for voting, they vote how their churches tell them to vote.

Manchin isn't the only Democrat in West Va. We find a local that "speaks the language" and explain to voters He/She should be the next Democratic Senator for WVA because they will vote for BBB which brings This number of jobs and helps families this way ETC.

It can be done.
