1. Putin really is stupid if he thought he could occupy Western Ukraine, let alone Kyiv.

Western Ukrainians: a) have a strong national sense of Ukrainian identity, b) primarily speak Ukrainian, not Russian, and c) have a terrain that is less conducive to invading troops than other parts of the country.

Kyiv was already a pipe dream for Putin. Lviv would have been a total impossibility.

5. Everything makes a lot of sense now, to me.

One main reason that Putin invaded Ukraine was to weaken president Biden and make a path for his puppet in 2024.

Putin and Trump believed that Russia would conquer Ukraine in 3 days. When Russia 1st invaded what did Trump proclaim, how brilliant Putin was to declare territories independent. If Russia had been successful I guarantee that Trump would have pushed the talking point that Russia never invaded Ukraine on his watch, I guarantee it.

Putin and Trump severely underestimated Joe Biden.

President Biden does not get nearly enough credit for his strength and smarts to keep NATO and our allies united. Without president Biden's leadership Russia may well have been successful in Ukraine.

Russia conquering Ukraine would have been used to bash president Biden. With the midterms where the opposing party usually makes gains and with 2024 where many Democrats are in competitive races, Putin's plan was coming to fruition, the end of the #1 democracy in the world and the impetus for more democracies to be overturned.

President Biden says, fuck you Vlad, fuck you traitor Trump, Not on my watch. NATO is expanding, Le Pen lost in France, and it is Putin and his puppet who have been humiliated.

9. I think this is a bit America-centric

Putin wants to restore the Soviet Union. Trump was a tool to that end not the goal… Putin dgaf about Trump. He didn’t invade Ukraine to help Trump, he installed Trump so he could invade Ukraine.

As noted from the beginning in February, it would take huge numbers of troops to occupy all or most of Ukraine--probably more troops than Pooty even has.

Perhaps a cumulative byproduct of a century of autocratic brainwashing without significant pushback from an independent press. Has communist dictator Pooty gotten whatever he has wanted for so long he has become conditioned to making up anything knowing everybody will go along with it (or else!)? Whatever he dreams up is "reality"? Similar to TFG?
