https://jaxtrib.org/2022/05/11/judge-strikes-down-part-of-florida-congressional-redistricting-map/A 2nd Judicial Circuit Court judge struck down Jacksonvilles congressional districts in a ruling against Floridas redistricting process.
Circuit Judge Layne Smith said, I am finding the enacted map is unconstitutional because it diminishes African Americans ability to elect candidates of their choice.
He ordered the state to adopt a map that maintains an east-to-west version of Jacksonvilles 5th Congressional District, stretching from Duval to Gadsden counties.
The ruling came after a Wednesday hearing that saw plaintiffs argue that Gov. Ron DeSantis congressional map, which eliminated Jacksonvilles current Black ability-to-elect district, violated the state constitution.

(82,849 posts)1. And if the state doesn't adopt the map the judge ordered them to adopt?
Will the Republicans just run out the clock (yet again) and be "stuck" with their unfair, unconstitutional map that just happens to favor them?
