(4,392 posts)None of us is ever guaranteed immunity from that final consequence.
Men and women alike made individual choices and often lived and died by them!
AFAIK, I've lost 3 this past year, their earthly purpose fulfilled, but none from the virus. Just this morning, I buried my friend, a not yet old, spunky, independent woman, interred in a national military cemetery following full US military honors. She knew war; she waged it against her illness, no less this more common recent enemy. Now she'll find peace from all torment. I will intensely miss her in my life.

(41 posts)all of us who have lost loved ones, particularly at this time, to covid.
We lost our beloved mother on Christmas morning 2020. She just entered senior care. The virus entered her nervous system, which made her have siezures every few seconds, for one solid week before she passed. It was torture. This is a very horrible virus, to any who may be thinking we have it licked now.

(3,234 posts)from Covid and I miss her each & every day.
Too early for this.....as I still have great difficulty talking about it. She was in assisted living. An anti-masking nurse brought it into the building which was completely locked down. She wound up killing my mom and 13 other residents in the building. All because she didn't believe in masks and went to a big Thanksgiving family dinner with absolutely no Covid protections in place. She had no businesses attending it but she did and it killed my mom & others.........
I was able to have a flag planted in her name on the National Mall during the installation there and I was also able to add her name to the national Covid map which lists all the victims of this deadly virus where I wrote her eulogy (last pic below her portrait). She was a nurse for over 40 years & worked in public schools, hospitals, long term care, but her favorite was working with Alzheimer's patients in locked wards.
I have a lot to say but it's just too early, having just woken up, and I'm not there mentally to handle it this time of the morning.
I love and miss you mom so much as I sit here balling my eyes out. Fuckin' hell...
