(29,322 posts)She was a surrogate for Bernie Sanders twice and former Ohio State Senator.

(8,347 posts)She ran for an open seat in 2021 against Shontel Brown and received about 44% of the vote and then primaries her in 2022 and lost with only about 30% . Shontel Brown is in the progressive caucus and a cosponsor for Medicare for All. Israel/Palestine was the major difference between the 2 candidates.

(8,347 posts)Summer Lee has emphasized her support over and over again for Joe Biden, including on her website -despite the couple of tweets that suggested otherwise. She will likely be one of the strongest supporters for his infrastructure bill should the Dems keep the house.

(297,923 posts)That's FAR from "not perfect". Why would a Dem do that?

(8,347 posts)From 538:
The Democratic primary in Pennsylvanias 12th Congressional District remains too close to call. There, progressive state Rep. Summer Lee holds a tiny 523-vote lead over establishment-backed Steve Irwin. Since this is an open, solidly blue seat, Lee was seen as one of progressives best chances to add to their numbers tonight. She looks like shes in good shape, but we dont know how many ballots are outstanding and its possible Irwin could close the gap.
