It didn't go as well as the first.
I have two vaccines and two boosters. The first booster was in December. I tested positive for Covid on Dec. 29th. ...no symptoms but tested positive.
Second booster was in March. I got covid again, probably this weekend. Tested positive with symptoms. I thought I would be ok because I had two boosters. I wasn't.
I probably got the virus on a SEPTA train ride to Philadelphia. The thing is, the train car, in and out, was mostly empty except for the 10 of us in our group. We sat away from each other on the train and we did not go into any enclosed spaces. Five of us tested positive.
So... my suggestions. Resume outdoor dining in restaurants or do takeout. Avoid large indoor gatherings.... parties, meetings, church, concerts and whatever I didn't think of. Work remote if you can.
My symptoms are not severe, slight headache from time to time, muscle aches, coughing. .... Yes I got the "Pax" anti-viral medication. It is helping.
But still. A new wave is spreading and we can expect new variations of pop up.
Be careful.

(51,649 posts)I was invited to a luncheon by the Human Society in 2 weeks and have debated going (it says you need to show proof of vax and boosted and a neg 72 hour test). Since it is indoors there will be eating and masks will be off. I have decided not to attend. It's too bad since I have been super good for 2 years and always mask indoors (even with the mandate gone).

(5,164 posts)I am glad you are ok and hope you don't have any longterm consequences.
I am getting my second booster this week. I taught in person all semester always wearing n95 and was tested bi weekly and apparently was ok. One of my students tested positive but due to a flat tire was not in class while contagious fortunately.
Did you mask on the train ride?

(1,023 posts)Im pretty sure Ive got it, too. Tests came back negative 3 times, but once I experienced loss of smell, safe bet. Isolating, hydrating and rest. Really mild, thank goodness.
If you havent gotten all your boosters, DO IT!! Its made a huge difference.

(1,855 posts)If yes, what type? I'm curious.
I know of many people recently who caught covid because they were at an unmasked gathering, and a few who did not wear a kn95. They were all boosted, or double boosted.
I hope you continue to recover. I recently read that people who've had omicron do not have immunity and can catch it again. You gave some good suggestions but didn't suggest wearing a mask. I'd suggest you wear one in any enclosed public space, unless you're looking for a third date...Please be careful once you're out and about.

(26,315 posts)Not that I'm not already being very cautious - still wearing a mask inside buildings and hand sanitizing - but I'll go back to only doing early morning shopping and stock up on essentials.

(13,583 posts)me about the Paxlovid is some people take it and recover, only to have Covid return a week or two later. Also didnt know until recently you have to weigh at least eighty-eight pounds to take the drug. Seems like an odd number.

88 pounds = 39.9161 kg
I am out of luck because unfortunately I weigh about 82 pounds.

(13,517 posts)My daughter and husband both had it. I, on day 9 of it in our household, am still negative. (It ain't over til it's over, though.) I think my booster about a month ago saved my bacon. (Unless I get it. Then it is what it is.)
This go round has been tough on people who have gotten it. Sorry you've had it twice in the last few months. That's a bummer.
But here in NYC, everybody I know is getting it. My brother has it. Four of my daughter's friends have it. A bunch of my friends have it. Most of the people who I know who are getting it are the hold outs though. The never been infected before people . (That's our case.)
Wishing you much health and a quick recovery.

(5,008 posts)in early June. Thought I would be okay if I masked up. Did not plan to eat indoors and we are driving. Did plan to do the boat ride in the falls and to take my son to Canadas Wonderland amusement park during the week. I was holding out a bit for my second booster because we have plans to travel to Hawaii for our 30th wedding anniversary in September(wanted the immunity to be at highest level for the 11 hour flight). Might cancel that if numbers are still spiking at that point. Might just go ahead and get my second booster before Canada. I still have enough time for the two weeks afterwards..

(12,456 posts)the shore of Lake Ontario.
There is a canal that is a few miles from the falls. Large ships go through the canal and you can stand on a bridge when one of the ships goes under the bridge. As it is come towards you, it looks like it is going to crash onto the bridge.
If you can afford it, get a room that overlooks the falls. Given covid, they might not be too expensive.
The boat ride is fun.
You can also leave Niagara and drive alone Lake Erie. There are a couple of lighthouses to see.

(5,008 posts)We will check out the canal. The drive along Lake Erie sounds like something nice to do too..
We already made our hotel reservations with points. Thanks for the suggestion though. 🙂
Thanks again! 🙂

(3,431 posts)in February with fairly high fever and aches, minor chest congestion. The worst part came later. I have shed about 15-20% or more of my hair. Our Doc said he's seen it frequently in people who had fairly high or long fevers with Covid. A coworker of mine has had long Covid brain fog and still has no sense of smell after more than 8 months.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and NO long Covid symptoms.

(34,123 posts)They are effective at both keeping you from giving COVID to others - AND - at protecting yourself.
That is even more important than the precautions you suggested (aside from the one about restaurant eating).
Aside from the lockdown period, I have never restricted my social activity beyond wearing a mask when I was indoors. I was working in person, interacting with up to 100 people at a time (and a couple dozen most days) from August 2020 until I retired. I have continued to mask except for the brief period in May of this year when the numbers were below 50 cases per 100,000 over a 2-week period. I have never tested positive for COVID (although it is possible I had it in December (even though I had 4 negative tests, including one PCR test)).
Lock-down isn't the answer - but using tried and true methods (primarily masking indoors) is strong preventative medicine - especially when combined with vaccinations.

(5,815 posts)They got Covid. Both vaccinated and boosted. One 82, one 65. One in NC and the other in Jacksonville, FL. The NC person had lowered precautions and taken a trip to Miami for a class reunion. He got the antiviral and seems to be steadily improving. Cousin in Jacksonville reported the main symptom was lower back pain that would not go away. No word on whether she got the antiviral drug although I encouraged her to see about getting it.
Looks like being diligent with masks, hand washing and distancing will have to be brought back in a serious way. No more casually (carelessly) forgetting to mask up. 🤷🏻?♀️
