Hemingway's words seem applicable today.

He was asked, "How did you go bankrupt?"

Hemingway, "Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly."

With the Rethug plan for the last 40 years to redistrict, suppress the vote, and pack the courts, he's answer would fit if the question is "How did you lose your democracy?"

how does it end? gradually, then suddenly. I really did not expect that I would be around for any part of that.
