4. Hochul's polling is terrible

And Suozzi is barely a Democrat. The redistricting has crippled our chances of picking up seats in Congress and we will definitely lose seats in the state senate. I just hope we can get people out to vote.

I have more current numbers at work.

Buffalo Bills stadium deal in budget very unpopular. And bail reform continues to bite us especially with crime up.

https://scri.siena.edu/2022/04/25/while-nyers-strongly-support-new-bail-law-changes-only-1-3-think-they-will-decrease-crime-38-say-theyll-have-no-effect/

I work for a state Assemblyman. The redistricting is going to cost us a very good democratic state Senator who is not running because his district is now unwinnable. Turnout is going to be critical and there will be a lot iof formerly competitive races that are now much more likely to go the them.
I'm not being a downer, but the picture is not as good as it was before the redistricting got thrown out.

58%. You really thing Giuliani will beat her statewide, which is not affected by the redistricting?

I dare to say his very name is a negative because of the antics of his father.

I am not familiar with Newsbreak.com. It appears to be an aggregator of some sort. The story points th Washington Examiner, which is a well known right wing rag of ill repute. The Washington Examiner story (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/stunning-andrew-giuliani-surge-to-no-1-in-gop-ny-gubernatorial-primary), in turn, cites a Zogby poll (https://johnzogbystrategies.com/governor-hochuls-approval-rating-at-58-leads-all-gop-challengers-by-double-digits-giuliani-opens-up-10-point-lead-over-party-endorsed-zeldin-in-gop-primary-choice-of-delgado-for-lieutenant/). Zogby is reputedly one of the lest accurate pollsters there is. The header of the Zogby story is "Governor Hochul’s Approval Rating at 58%, Leads All GOP Challengers by Double-Digits; Giuliani Opens Up 10-point Lead Over Party-Endorsed Zeldin in GOP Primary"

So, when you go to the original source, the story is about Hochul beating the crap out of any potential GOP candidate, with Giuliani beating the crap out of the GOP endorsed candidate being an incidental finding of the poll.

Pretty funny, but not really stunning.

FIRST IN NEWSDAY
His district redrawn, Sen. Jim Gaughran won't seek re-election

By Yancey Roy
yancey.roy@newsday.com@yanceyroy

State Sen. Jim Gaughran said Friday he won’t run for reelection, following a redistricting process that significantly broke up his Nassau-Suffolk district.

Gaughran (D-Northport) has represented the 5th Senate District, which ran generally from Glen Cove to northern Huntington, for four years. But a court-ordered redrawing of State Senate districts, which will be in place for this fall’s elections, puts Gaughran’s residence in the Republican-leaning 2nd Senate District and pits him against another incumbent, Sen. Mario Mattera (R-St. James), who is in his first term of office.

“I’ve been calling friends and supporters and I have decided I am not going to run for reelection in this very new district handed down” by the courts, Gaughran told Newsday.

He said will serve out his term, which ends Dec. 31, and will look to stay involved in issues, especially gun safety.

Gaughran said he was proud of being part of a “blue wave” of Democrats who flipped control of the Senate in 2018 and ushered in a series of progressive laws on gun safety, abortion rights, farmworkers’ rights and drinking water protection.

“I ran to break the logjam in Albany, to pass critical legislation that languished for decades under the Republican majority,” Gaughran said. “Since taking office in 2018, we’ve done just that.”

He said the “realistic situation” though, is those stances will have many opponents in the 2nd Senate District and “I would never compromise my principles just to win votes” in a new district.

I live in this district. Mattera is an antivax, anti mask, climate change denier. New York is not a blue monolith.
