Oh, which one to pick - so many terrible choices - Poll of Trump/DeSantis

Ron DeSantis beat Trump soundly in a straw poll —again— on how much conservatives would like each man to be their 2024 candidate

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed another clean win over former President Donald Trump in a recent straw poll of self-identified conservative conference-goers who were asked who they'd like to be the 2024 presidential nominee.

....

According to the poll, DeSantis received the thumbs-up from 71.01% of voters, while Trump received approval from 67.68% of those who answered the poll.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in third, receiving 28.73% of the vote, and Dr. Ben Carson was fourth, with 24.15% of voters choosing Carson. Meanwhile, former Vice President Mike Pence received votes from only 14.36% of respondents, polling lower than Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

This is the second year DeSantis has come out on top of polling among Western Conservative Summit attendees. A 2021 straw poll asking the same question found that DeSantis received 74% approval while Trump received 71%.

1. IMO, the worst thing to happen would be for Trump to decide not to run & endorse DeSantis.

Hopefully, both will run & they'll fling poo at each other on the national stage for all to see just how vile they both are.

4. Do you think that there is a possibility, in Trump's mind, that if elected he could pardon himself?

He has already stated that he could do that. If that happened don't you believe that the SC would back him?

I would like the poll numbers better if it was a 50/50 split between Trump and DeSantis. The Republicans could tear themselves apart over that kind of situation.

If I had to choose between the two for President, I would have to choose Trump...I see DeSantis as the larger danger.

5. I think if Trump is indicted, either by the DOJ or the Georgia Grand Jury, he'll be so busy

defending himself a primary run might not be possible. In that event, I can see him secretly trading an endorsement for a pardon from DeSantis. If Trump isn't indicted, and he sees a path to the nomination, I think he'll run, then pardon himself, whether it's legal, or not.

I agree, DeSantis is the greater danger. He'll have a better chance in the general election than Trump. Trump can be more easily defeated.

Jr’s 16% is surprising. I’d read several places that he’s way up in popularity with those morons.
