FOX refuses to show the Jan 6h hearing on Thursday.

I guess they don`t go by their own motto anymore which was "We report you decide." They know damn well that they cannot allow their viewers to hear anything that might hurt their brains. FOX and the Republicans are the biggest threat to the democracy of our country.

Don’t get me wrong, businesses will pay to be next to that programming content opposite the hearings—businesses like MyPillow and Chaichi’s talent agent.

Or complaining to him about his choice of stations?

I once sat down beside an old white man at my car dealership who began to spout all that far right behind crap. I contradicted him on everyone. His name was called. I looked at the others waiting, apologized to them. They said we did not say anything because you were doing quite well by yourself!! Then we all had a good laugh.

And she knows where I'm coming from and I often show her things from DU. So I was stunned to see Fox "News" on the TV in her waiting room - but her assistant rushed in and changed the TV, explained that a previous patient, an older woman, had requested it.

She's also an excellent dentist, has treated my entire extended family, so I still go to her even though it's a drive..

Same thing with my auto dealership. I had changed the TV in the waiting room to MSNBC and when the service agent I've dealt with for years came in to tell me about my car, Mike Pence happened to be on the TV. Without missing a beat, she said "I hate him!" So now I know that she's "one of us" as well and she often wants to discuss politics when I come in.

Just shows, you never know...

But apparently this patient specifically asked. And there was no remote in the waiting room, so the assistant had to change the channel for her - and change it back. But my auto dealership does have a remote available so I usually change it to MSNBC - though I've sat through cooking shows and The Rifleman (which I remember seeing as a kid), I just won't put up with Fox "News..."

In fact, two of them are also on DU, though they aren't really prolific. We all went to see Al Franken back in November when his National Tour Tour came to this area.

And we've had both Democratic and Republican representation - but this is definitely the worst it's been - we can't seem to get rid of Stefanik...

The jerk across the street put up a Trump banner. He's always out there with his riding lawn mower, leaf blower or some kind of noise maker. And it's just him - a family previously lived in that large house. And we have had lawn signs here, I worked on the campaigns for our last Democratic congressman and also got lawn signs for friends. But it's not like too many will see them except the guy across the street, since we live at the end of a cul-de-sac.

And you're right, the Republicans have gotten totally out of control. I've been voting since Jimmy Carter and I've never seen anything close to this. I keep wondering what my father and grandmother would think...

Old truck parked in front of my house for weeks, one winer witer without moving. My lawn guys can not edge, the leaf truck can not pick up my leaves. I politely left a note on his door asking him if he would move it. He had parked right over the leaves my lawn guy blowed there.

I asked the Parking patrol how best to handle the winter thing. It is against the law to have vehicles on the street during snows because the trucks can’t plow they talked to him. He has a 2 car garage double drive way and 3 places in front of his house.

My friends mostly feel like me. My Son married into a Republican family. Since he has most of the family parties he laid down the law, NO POLITICS!

And why in front of your house??? Sounds even worse than the guy across my street... *knock on wood*

And I'm pretty careful in front of those I don't know, but I kinda "outed" myself when I was excited to initially get vaccinated. This was at a local meeting and one guy went on about not knowing "what was in it." And an older gentleman said he wasn't getting vaccinated because his daughter is a nurse and she's not getting vaccinated and he gets his medical advice from her. And his granddaughters aren't getting vaccinated, either - in case they want to have children someday...

There are jerks everywhere, even here in a "blue state" like New York. You have a good day, too - and enjoy yourself at the pool...

They will take some statement or quote that was said in the meeting and say now we will tell you what they really mean. Hannity does that all the time. He was on vacation one time and Biden was to give a speech on something and Hannity before he left he told his toadies that he would be on the air from where ever he was to tell them what Biden really said. He had to make sure that they did not believe the truth and to keep them from walking into walls listening to the truth.

Tue Jun 7, 2022, 07:59 AM

cable TV; so that 3. Fox News can have its broadcasting license jerked.

Good article on this on the Daily Kos:

FCC broadcast licenses include a requirement that the licensee operate in the public interest. It’s clear that Fox News does not — lying is not in the public interest. Spreading conspiracy theories is not in the public interest. Enabling malfeasance, corruption, and abuse of power by elected officers in not in the public interest. It’s not just a difference of opinion, it’s qualitatively different. They may all be in Rupert Murdoch’s interest , but not in the public interest. Their formal “news” programs may show a modicum of journalistic ethics, but their “opinion” programs do not. So the first question is, does the FCC have any interest in seeing that Fox News deals in facts? Given the political realities behind Trump’s appointment of the FCC chairman, I leave that to the reader to figure out… but the second, and more important question is, does the FCC have any jurisdiction over cable media at all?

It would seem that they don’t. The term “broadcast” has been narrowly interpreted by the Supreme Court to refer exclusively to the TV and radio airwaves — cable doesn’t count.
