Also, worth noting that there is not an ounce of integrity in JR's body. He is as corrupt and extreme as Thomas. He just has tried to hide it but his record is clear from voting rights to Citizens United to Heller to concealed carry to Dobbs. His ACA vote was a head fake.
Anyway, other courts have made terrible decisions but I really do think his court has set the benchmark for partisanship, corruption and extremism over more than a decade now.
Even Rehnquist, who I hated, didn't eviscerate as many norms as Roberts has.

(1,835 posts)The Bush V. Gore ruling was a coup. I was apoplectic and recognized what they were even then. Sad that no one with the ability to fight back saw what was coming the way I did.

Roberts is not relevant now on the court, Justice Alito is the de-facto leader of the SC. Roberts had no sway over the court in its abolishing Roe.

(7,512 posts)I agree he was not a good person. I believe he wanted a moderate court. He was handed lunatics to swing balance with last 3 picks. These kind of things will be his legacy.

(5,502 posts)Alito's opinion was something out of Crazyville. I do think the court should be bigger. Significantly so. And I think it should be a rotation of Federal Judges with a limited time on the Supreme Court and they would return to their original jurisdiction. And I think there should be defined qualifications.
And the court--and justices--need to be more transparent. This curtain of secrecy they hide behind needs to be removed.
I also think there should be triggers that would allow congress to be a check/balance of SC decisions. In other words, there should be collaboration. The executive branch and the legislative brach openly collaborate. Why isn't the judiciary brach included? I think we need a better system.
