General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am not calling for this. I sincerely hope it never occurs, BUT---
---those who refuse to acknowledge the distinct possibility of armed violence by "militias", public beatings and stompings by the MAGA crowd and peaceful protesters being run over without consequence by large pickups flying "TRUMP 2024" flags are ignoring reality.
Stated simply, the Trump party is committed to doing WHATEVER is necessary to seize power, retain power and punish and intimidate any opponents.
The anti-"small d democratic" whack jobs---including many in Congress---will never call it "murder" or "assassination", but many of them are flat-out willing to kill those who dare disagree with them. And, yes, I mean that literally.
"WHATEVER!"
Can I prove the above? No, but I genuinely believe it.

(15,241 posts)Watching the Ulvade horror, even our finest (sarcasm) didn't want to face up to a lone 18yo.
I know some say that the US military, if called out, can take out any 18yo easily. But if these traitors are acting as terrorists, they won't be a unified force that can be napalmed or stunned with our modern weapons.
Our major problem is allowing everyone to have access to violently lethal weaponry. PERIOD.
This mindset has been foisted on us by:
1. enemies of this democracy - foreign and home-grown
2. weaponry manufacturers
3. people who fear other people - paranoids

is looking to move on from trump. The alarming revelations from the J6 hearings make it highly probable that trump won't be the party's nominee in 2024.
He's an increasing embarrassment to not just that party but to the nation. Just imagine the campaign ads that can be fashioned from the video clips of the J6 failed coup.

(32,080 posts)I think the Right, those on the Supreme Court included, are going to rue the day way they encouraged these rubes to arm themselves to the gills. It's just a matter of time before some of them get off by some of these heavily-armed nutjobs, who finally figure out who has really been fucking them over all this time. Heck, there's already a ton of infighting going on, and it's going to get worse.

There are obviously members of law enforcement who were, and probably still are, conflicted by the desires of their former president and their allegiance to the Constitution. I have little doubt that once the full scope of the crimes committed by TFG and his upper echelon are revealed, then many more of the majority of law enforcement, the military, and other parts of our Federal and State militias will come to their senses. The small number of MAGA militia members willing to continue to pursue some sort of widespread revolution would have no chance.
