GOV. ASA HUTCHINSON (R), ARKANSAS was on Erin Burnett on CNN last night. Here is the transcript. I've excerpted the quote below.
https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/ebo/date/2022-06-29/segment/01
"BURNETT: Right. And, I mean, I'll say the Children's Defense Fund, you know, they ranked your state 47th on children poverty, 47th in child hunger, 35th in children with no health insurance.
So, obviously, there's significant work to be -- to be done there for children who are born into Arkansas. But on this issue of rape, Governor -- yeah?
HUTCHINSON: Well, it's just important. You're citing those statistics. You really -- I mean, obviously, a Southern state has challenges with our health outcomes. [emphasis added]. We work very hard to improve those, and that's why we're investing more into maternal health care.
Outrageous!
1. Why does being a Southern state mean obvious challenges with health outcomes?
2. Erin wasn't asking about health outcomes - she was asking about poverty, hunger and the policy of no health insurance.
3. How much are they investing into maternal health care?
Sadly, Erin let Asa off the hook - she didn't ask what he meant by "being a southern state"
