Disclaimer: I was baptized Epsic, in a Very Nice Church. I don't still practice, but I've never renounced it and I have no reason to since we're warm and fuzzy
plus "yes I am a Baptized Christian, why do you ask" is REAL handy when dealing with my wife's nutty Pent family from Louisiana.

Abortion
The Diocese supports freedom of choice in abortion. The Diocesan Council in 1969 endorsed repeal of all laws governing the performance of an abortion by a licensed physician. Convention in 1972 gave support to New Yorks new law permitting prospective mothers to choose to give or not to give birth to a child. Convention in 1974 (reaffirmed in 1986) endorsed the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court allowing women to exercise their own conscience in the matter of abortions. The Diocese is an affiliate of the New York State Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights.
Other good stuff: we have openly trans bishops, support strong gun control, and allow for death with dignity.
Oh, and just for funsies - more Presidents have been Episcopalian than any other affiliation.
Probably just a drive-by post, I'm waiting for the wife to come home for dinner. Cheers!

(16,846 posts)As far as Christianity is concerned, I'm more in line with the Unitarians (are they really Christian?) or the Episcopalians than any other denomination, but we don't have a Unitarian church around here. But they all borrow elements from Hinduism and the Egyptian religions.

(46,051 posts)As is the national church. I understand the Lutherans and Methodists are, too. The Jews and Muslims are also for women in this regard.
