whether tfg could reach the steering wheel or not.
Here's how I picture this happening.
First, he's pissed. That means he's going to be yelling and cursing and trying to throw weight around.
I can picture a monitor screen and other equipment attached to the back of the driver's seat.
He probably turned his body sideways and wedged his shoulder in between the two headrests (there's plenty of room, even with equipment attached to it) and reached FOR the wheel. he has small hands, but his arms are not short, I don't think.
So he's sideways, kind of wedged in a little maybe, pissed off, pushing forward, trying to grab the wheel like it's a brass ring.
Maybe he grabbed it, maybe he didn't. Maybe he just came close. in any case the driver would have said "Please don't grab the wheel, or please don't touch the wheel".
Any public comments about this are nothing more than a goddamn distraction. The witness was relaying what she heard. Period.
What matters is what he wanted the driver to do. And whether he made a half assed attempt to reach the wheel. The rest is bullshit. It doesn't matter.

(15,822 posts)His lawyer will bring this up. The jury will wonder as well. I think getting the facts out now is a better solution then in the courtroom in my opinion.

(668 posts)He was definitely reaching for the front seat. The quality isn't great due to the tinted windows but he was moving around and reaching.

And it's working...

All the other testimony, emails, tweets, etc. do matter.
Do I believe he tried to grab the wheel? Of course. He's an unhinged idiot with the behavior of a toddler.
It doesn't surprise me and I just don't care. Would rather focus on the crap that "they" are NOT talking about...the crap they're hoping will get buried by this bullshit. This is how they play their game.
I'm exhausted.

(15,696 posts)TFG was not sitting peacefully behind the driver as they left the speech and headed back to the White House. MSNBC & CNN showed the footage when they were interviewing the documentarian after recapping Ms. Hutchinson's testimony.
YouTube has the segments.

(115,732 posts)because he wanted so badly to make that grand entrance into the House chamber and announce he'd "won."
I'm wondering, though, whether Ornato exaggerated the incident in telling it to Hutchinson because that's what guys do when they talk about physical actions, especially by another "heroic" man. Ornato is a loyal, worshipful Trumper (and so is Engel), and he would have wanted TFG to sound strong and manly and determined. Maybe TFG really did try to grab the wheel, or maybe he just gestured angrily toward it, but Ornato's retelling could have been a bit embellished in order to describe TFG's frame of mind. Engel didn't disagree because he didn't think it mattered. Neither of them ever figured Hutchinson, who had also been a loyal Trumper until then, would ever tell anybody.

(10,192 posts)Trump was likely screaming, cursing and generally going ape-shit in the back seat of that Suburban, demanding he be taken to the Capitol right now or heads would roll. That's what will prove intent and state of mind, not his trying to grab the wheel. This entire spectacle must have been recorded, the SS must release the recording or transcript.
