New doctors get thrown in. If you are in the ER, tell them you want the senior doctor over view.

(11,916 posts)of Pakastani and Indian favorites to take into the hospital for today. Hubby just met her at work and she gave him enough for our family for tonight - appetizers to dessert - even homemade naan and specially packaged spicy items for our daughter.

(6,685 posts)Husbands meds gave him pancreatitis but the ER doc assumed raging alcoholic and was ready to just let him die.
The First day guy from nowhere asked me in the hall if he is on such and such meds. Yes. He and the Doc had an angry discussion at the other end of the hall. New guy asked permission to treat explaining first day.
We came close to losing my husband but a determined new doctor was willing to stick his neck out.

(13,911 posts)for getting L5-S1 in the center of the film. I asked him about the cone and he looked at me with a blank stare. As for books, they are all gone. After 42 yrs as a tech I gave them all away to new students. I really liked "The Art and Science of Medical Radiography". The title kinda sorta summed up my love of the field. I really Really REALLY liked taking radiographs. Doctors....not so much.
Many moons ago I was a Asst.cheif in a small hospital in Connecticut. They had a tiny medical library that nobody went into accept me I think. There was a old book on the shelf called "Radiography" by a Dr Sante.. It was published in 1925❗️
It had everything on how to set up and run a radiology department. How to make gowns, how to set up a BE system with a stainless bucket hanging from a IV pole with rubbber tubes and clamps. HOW TO CARVE ENEMA TIPS that's crazy. Suggested techniques for xray machines..
The TFD's were 20 inches and it was the usual MA/TIME/KV and what got me was.....
You had to set the SPARK GAP❗️The fricken kvp was dependent on the spark gap of the generator. How antique was that...
I had too much fun and they paid me to do it. I caught the profession when it was going up and left when it was going down.
Met some really interesting people and went to interesting places.. YMMV

(25,368 posts)We had one with goofy OG (Oral Gastric) tubes for premies.
"What's this?, What's this?, What's this?"
It's a very common order, normally straight forward order and we had to question him like every time! In our unit, we had feeder-growers, so the tube was secondary, but he just couldn't get that part right.
I ended up barging down the hall alot and knocking on the call-room alot because our part of NICU was located in Newborn Nursery. The on-call room was located way down the hall in the actual ICU. Anyway, we often had to "get a doctor" to look at Newborns too. (Loud murmurs and respiratory distress were the pressing concerns in Newborn.) Push the bassinette down the hall.."Can you look at this baby?" Heck with waiting for them to return a call...
