This was the title of a 1919 song about our Doughboys returning from WWI. They came home more
worldly and, for the most part, did not want the old rural life they had left. They were more sophisticated
now and had seen and done new things.
The same is true of our populace today in that we've had the right to abortion, we've had the right to same
sex marriage, we've had the right to interracial marriage, contraception, etc., etc. Hell, the dreaded herb
marijuana is legal in many states. People, with the
exception of the Christo-fascists, expect those rights, they've seen Paree. I don't believe the recent
decisions by the Supreme Court will stand for very long, or that people or states will obey the decisions.
Will people suddenly stop getting abortions, or divorce their same-sex partner or different race partner?
Will they change what they do in the privacy of their bedroom? Nah, we've seen Paree and we're not
going to stay back on the farm.
Once people have enjoyed their freedoms, they won't give them up easily.
