NBC rushed with the story that Cassidy Hutchinsons testimony about the SUV was wrong. Was the source Tony Ornato himself, who has been outed as a known liar?
Now Secret Service Agents are corroborating Hutchinson.
Shoddy sourcing would be journalistic malpractice.

(82,849 posts)Time used to be that if a source requesting anonymity gave a reporter bogus information, the reporter would tell everyone, and name the source. Now? Well, the story got out there, besmirched Hutchinson's testimony, and now Alexander looks like a chump or a low-rent PR person. The source is totally safe, won't be named (until Alexander's tell-all book released 18 months from now), and will continue to feed reporters misinformation.

(10,885 posts)What he DID say was that there were two people who were willing to testify her testimony was wrong. It's a fine line, but a big difference. That doesn't make it so.
🚨 A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel.

(10,885 posts)I know your point was that they rushed the story, and I understand that, but they did not say the story was wrong as you say at the end of your sentence.
Had you said " NBC rushed with the story that Engel and Ornato were prepared to testify it was wrong", then it would be correct. There is a distinction.
Alexander's point wasn't that the testimony was wrong. His point was that others were ready to refute.
