“New York would require people applying for a handgun license to turn over a list of their social media accounts so officials could verify their ‘character and conduct’ under a bill being considered Friday by the state Legislature,” the AP AP reports.

“The provision was part of a proposed redesign of the state’s firearms licensing laws hammered out by lawmakers after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down rules severely limiting who could get a permit to carry a handgun outside their home.”

So what if I have the right to say I want to kill the President. Doesn't mean I can say it and count on buying a gun.

I hear it about guns (cat's out of the bag, too many guns, etc)

I hear it about voting rights (gerrymandering, voter ID, etc)

There are solutions. The Ballot speaks louder than even the SCOTUS.

The requirements cannot be subjectively based. Determining whether a social media profile shows good character and conduct is as subjective as determining whether the reason to carry is good enough.
