We should never have stopped masking in the FIRST place !

While I appreciate people like Dr. Fauci being clear about it being time to put our masks back on now, the truth is it was never a good idea to stop masking in the first place. Persistently high transmission is the reason these waves are coming at us faster than ever.

when we were out shopping. One day I made a brief stop and forgot my mask. When I got back to my car and realized what I had done, I was kind of surprised at my mistake. I hate wearing a mask. They’re hot and the N95s make breathing difficult. But I am an adult. I know why we wear them. So I have not made that mistake again.

Just get used to it. Unless you’re willing to play roulette with your health, wear the mask. It is not the worst thing that has ever happened to you. But Covid might be. Just sayin’…….

except for indoor eating during a very brief period (about 1 month) during which the community infection level was low, by the original standards (fewer than 50 cases/100,000 over a 2 week period).

And I complained about Dr. Fauci at the time and was scolded for daring to question him. I said then, and it continues to be the case, in every instance when I differed with Dr. Fauci as to public health guidance on COVID I was later proven right.

theatre who was masked. It was mid-day and it was all senior citizens, probably a vulnerable group.

I never stopped either.

Bill Maher's " "Religulous" (which I just looked up was in 2008!), so this was a case of "taking a risk" for something I really wanted to see. It's also why I chose the 2:30 show in a small venue on a Wednesday afternoon, masked and distanced, thinking that wouldn't be "peak time". Hopefully I won't regret it! (It was a good flick, BTW )

It’s really hard being the one contrarian, along with hubby. I mask up in the grocery store, but as soon as hubby sees the free samples he takes his off.

We are vaxxed and boosted, though, and as soon as the next vax is available we’ll be in line again.

I still mask up for every public establishment I have to go in. And, I never catch anything since I started wearing masks.

If even people on DU think that, well, there’s not much hope.

I wear mine indoors in public, and I do still see others who do, but the vast majority do not.

I do have a favorite restaurant that I go to to. They have partitions around the booths.
I went yesterday and the waiters are wearing masks again.
I haven’t yet caught the plague and I don’t intend to.

I'm middle aged with no risk factors. I have my booster and will keep up with them.

Short of a revolutionary new vaccine, this virus is here to stay. I'm done with uncomfortable masks and social distancing. I accept that I am adding a small new risk to my life.

do they even pay attention to that anymore? I don't hear it much about it any more and we've fluctuated between medium and high the past few weeks
