Whats that Pence says, I'm a Christian, an American, and a Republican in that order?

It ought to be I’m a lying hypocrite, a Republican, a Christian, an American, in that order. Except that being a lying hypocrite pretty much contradicts everything except Republican.

Haven’t heard much from him lately. His political career is over no matter what. He might as well talk to the Jan 6 committee. At least then his name will be remembered.

He put it last, which I find interesting. He put country before party, in this case. Quite a number of his party blame him for certifying the results, but many others still respect him. I agree his political career is over, but he will earn money on the conservative christian politics lecture circuit.

I also find it interesting but not surprising that he says christian first. As a Jew, I read that as sincere statement. I try not to presume or judge whenever anyone declares their piety and religious orientation. Who am I to judge? But sometimes I'm mistrustful of their motives and doubt their interpretation of their faith, noting their lack of compassion. Other times I am impressed and believe the person is kind, compassionate, a "good" or "true" christian as opposed to a religious zealot and hypocrite. I agree Pense a lying hypocrite, but I think he's closer to his faith than many of them who may or may not claim to be. He's still a christofascist, but I guess I'm saying he's a little more christo and maybe a bit less fascist than many of his cohorts.

I'm aware that if he'd gone along with tfg's plot, this country would have been in a worse crisis then it is now. I'm actually grateful his christian and American values took precedence over his GOPQ loyalty concerning the 2020 election. Hope it doesn't sound like I'm defending him, just analyzing his statement and offering my interpretation. He did not collaborate to overturn a fair election. Amazing how something like can almost turn a villain into a lesser villain.

But his better self won out, for whatever reason. We can be grateful for that at least. It would have been very easy for him to go along with the plot.
