We’re up against the ruthlessness of the Republican Party .. Democrats need the Democratic PARTY, not the president, to organize with more ferocity of focus, more determination to set the agenda, and put the other party on the defense.” @foxla

Identify them as the ENEMY and tell everyone how you’re going to defeat them. NEVER call them anything remotely nice. They are not to be coddled and told how much you want them to be “strong” or a “loyal opposition” or anything of the like. You go and crush them.

The donor class no like that, so I suspect more chasing of the bipartisan dragon.

Democratic voters must realize that we will not be saved from the top down. We must organize, begin massive creative, peaceful, sustained direct actions and civil disobedience whenever we lose another piece of our freedom.

If we refuse to be inconvenienced now to protect our freedom, our entire society will experience inconvenience like we’ve never known in the not too distant future.

That's a desired feature to many Republicans, so highlighting it makes them feel like they're on the right track. I like what he said about putting the Republican party on the defense, but even that could be better said as "keeping the Democratic Party on the offense." Present tense. Many Republicans have mastered the art of the implicit premise, the enthymeme.

will likely respond to being called “ruthless”. The same way the did with ”basket of deplorables”, they will see it as a virtue. Newsom knows that. He’s talking about how you deal with “ruthlessness” — not through traditional means — collaboration, compromise, give and take. Collaboration and compromise for the “ruthless” means you/we give one inch, they give nothing; then you give a yard, they give nothing; and then you give 10 yards instead of 8 yards. He’s talking about understanding that, being realistic about it, and using means that actually counter it.

I’m not saying anything you don’t already know though.

for at least 40 years. But their tactics and actions make it perfectly clear what their real intent is to anyone willing to watch and listen. As the old adage goes "when people are telling you who they are, believe them", be it implicit or explicit. The Dem political structure, however, has spent that same period thinking that Republicans can't possibly mean what they imply. Calling it hyperbole and falling back on the old "reach across the aisle" rhetoric to appear bipartisan. Sorry, folks. There's no bipartisan anymore. Not in a fight for the very heart and soul of the Republic.

I think Newsom gets that. You can't work with these people. But what you can do is learn from their tactics and make them our own. That's where ruthless comes in. Kick them on their heels and keep them there by accepting who they really are and making sure Americans everywhere know exactly what that is. The party of 10 year olds being forced to carry the fetus of their rapist, if she's not gunned down in her classroom first. THAT'S who these people are and the sooner we ruthlessly bash them over the head with that, ad nauseam, the better. Borrow the scare the shit out of people tactic. It works. A pissed and scared electorate votes. And in this case it's true. Roll out real life examples and rub the mainstream media's collective noses in it until THEY get off their lazy asses and finally get it as well.

We need fighters, not friends of our enemies. I know that sounds harsh but the Republicans talk about killing democrats regularly and drowning government in a bathtub, so I do not view them as friends anymore. They hate us and they hate democracy, and this is why they attacked our country on 1/6.

He is directing all his force at the current situation, and his speeches are all over You Tube.

2024 is a long time away and redirecting focus to where it needs to be is essential. He is doing a great job at this.

We have a few others who are not on the ballot this year who can also do this. They will get folks to pay attention, and become familiar to voters should they decide to seek any higher office. I am thinking of Senators and Governors mostly but there may also be a few big city mayors too.

As for 2024, we need to STFU about it until after this election. Yes Newsome would be a fantastic nominee should President Biden decide not to run.

They've been treating us as enemies to be defeated.

They have fought by Sun Tsu's model "make your enemies think you're they're friend"

We need to flip this...NOW!

Gov. Newsom is finally saying what a lot of us have been saying for a LONG time.

Democratic Party needs to stop coddling the enemy and start fighting.

We can be nice to "our' constituents, but we need to be fierce to those who oppose our party.

Fuck trying to win them over.

I had some alternatives to the last one, but this seemed the most universal.
And it actually works as a chant.

I wrote it because I was tired of waiting for DNC to come up with something.

And the article above triggered just that ... after my post

I wanted to include more, but I thought later that the key points are there, even if contained in one word --- for example, "bullets".

Without going into detail, that covers a lot of ground.

And activates the imagination.

Good luck.

I have found magic markers to be pretty permanent. Office stores will have blue if hardware stores don't.

The way it was meant to be. Much of the rest of the country is left with timid Dems, tripping over each other in a 40 year, mad scramble to the center right. One of the greatest political miscalculations in our history. God knows we're all paying for it now.

It wasn't resurgent conservatism that turned many Americans towards Reagan. It was a clear vision and strategy during difficult times, passionately promoted, with a willingness to kick the other guy in the teeth if warranted. Something Dems use to be good at and stopped being. That helped in the rise of the modern Republican Party, 40 years of rightwing propaganda, and acceptance of the fallacy that Americans are center right. They're not. Never have been. The 40 year choice between propaganda fueled, rightwing passion and weak Dem soup only makes it seem that way.

I don't ever see anyone posting about him. I don't have cable so no news media, I depend on DU for that.

So, I never see posts describing what Jaime Harrison is doing.

What has he been doing to help with our messaging?

Is he going on news programs to discuss the upcoming elections and how vital it is to keep electing Democrats to get things done? Bills passed.

Is he discussing how much our country is in peril and it will only get worse if the Democrats lose seats?

Does he have a 50 state strategy or anything to help GOTV?
