Remember this? Why relying on the good guy with a gun is a shitty idea, especially if the good guy with a gun is black.
The police officer who shot and killed Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr., a 21-year-old black man, last year at an Alabama mall was justified in the shooting and will not be taken to trial, the states attorney general, Steve Marshall, said on Tuesday
The announcement comes after months of investigation into the shooting, during which police repeatedly changed their story about what happened. Shortly after the shooting on November 22, police claimed that Bradford had shot at least one person at the Riverchase Galleria mall prior to the police shooting. But police later acknowledged that Bradford didnt shoot anyone, and arrested another man for the initial shooting.

Bradford did appear to have a gun. But he was licensed to carry a firearm, and its not illegal in Alabama to carry a gun in public.
Officials have repeatedly changed their story about the police shooting. They first said that Bradford was the initial shooter. They then acknowledged that Bradford wasnt the shooter, but claimed that he brandished his gun. After that, they said Bradford had his gun out, but dropped the suggestion that he threatened anyone with it, CNN reported.

Bradford also had no criminal record, and he was honorably discharged from the Army.

(620 posts)There have been numerous stories about good guys with guns who ended up dead. Police arrive on scene, enter building, shoot guy with gun. It is what they are trained to do. Sometimes it is the good guy.
