July 29, 2022 at 3:13 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
Russian government officials requested that a former colonel from the countrys domestic spy agency who was convicted of murder in Germany last year be added to the US proposed swap of a notorious arms dealer for Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan, CNN reports.
The Russians communicated the request to the US earlier this month through an informal backchannel used by the spy agency.

(12,693 posts)1. They're running short of troops.
Resorting to prisoner swaps to fill in the gaps?
Or maybe Putin needs to take care of some more "business partners".

to decide whether or not to include him in the swap?

they're call. Now if they did, the US would owe them a big favor. Now what would Germany want from the little ole USA???? Arms? no problem.. Fuel? maybe.. Some sort of technology?
