Here are videos showing that she crashed into a garage and almost hit a pedestrian hit a pedestrian shortly before she floored the car into the final crash

People who recklessly use cars to endanger peoples lives are as culpable as people who fire guns into a crowd.

I hope she recovers and if the evidence shows that she was drinking and driving at high speeds and intentionally crashed her car that she serve a long prison term.

That's why I asked my question with respect. Your post was a non-sequitur and I wanted more information since you raised the subject.

I'm glancingly familiar with her work but I don't have any other feelings for Ms. Heche. You, EndlessWire, are clearly deeply concerned for her well-being and I commend you for your empathy. But since I hardly know anything about her, it's hard to care about her.

Then there's her accident. After I read your aggressive posts, I spent time researching what this was all about. She was videoed driving at a dangerously high speed and smashed her car into a house making it uninhabitable. This sounds like she bears some responsibility for the crash. There were also reports that she had been drinking in the hours before the crash.

With that knowledge, I'll hold off on my judgment until more facts are released.

I'm not religious or spiritual so that's why I asked to whom you want us to pray. Do as you please, of course.

You jumped to conclusions then took a defensive posture. I simply didn't know what you were writing about and was asking for more information. Since it was your post, I didn't think it was my job to go digging up the story. It's been a waste of my time, frankly, because I'm not interested in celebrities personal lives.

I'm glad the homeowner wasn't hurt and I hope the doctors and nurses can help Ms. Heche recover.

What mechanism causes the object of the prayer to be affected at a distance by the words uttered or thought by the person praying?

And, while on the subject of ‘does prayer work’, there have been a few rigorous scientific studies testing the hypothesis that intercessory prayer can affect health outcomes. There is no evidence they do. In one study (Templeton Foundation https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/no-prayer-prescription/) the only even slightly significant effect found was that people who knew they were being prayed for had slightly worse outcomes than those who didn’t.

This was reported in LBN and GD; I can't control the hatred that some DUers wish to express. We have a sad world right now. and we don't care about one another like we should. I think that adults shouldn't get so upset over another poster asking for consideration. People post their private sorrows publicly all the time, and ask for help. They aren't redirected.

But, there is a great deal of absolute hatred for rich people here. She worked in her business for years, which happens to pay more than most of us make. See how often the word "rich" is used in vitriol? And yet, if you won say, 2 billion dollars in a lottery, people wouldn't be sending that back. So, I don't understand the hatred.

I guess a lot of these responders will smile when and if she dies. It was a miracle that no one was killed, but it makes me incomprehensibly sad at what she is going through, because I know.

I didn’t know much about Anne Heche until this latest occurrence prompted me to read some of her biography.

She reminds me of a very dear friend from years ago. She would periodically enter fugue states where she would either become an automaton or completely shift personality for a period of time. When she emerged she was never the same as when the episode started. I did what I could for her, but it was inevitable that she would ultimately drift away. I have checked in on her several times over the years and she has lived many lives. None of them particularly bad. There has been no stability, however. My greatest wish for her was that she wouldn’t meet a tragic end.

After reading Heche’s biography, I am reminded of a quote about Agent Starling.

“ There are shallow rollers and deep rollers. You can't breed two deep rollers, or their young will roll all the way down, hit, and die.” - Hannibal Lecter

Both of Anne’s parents were deep rollers.

Unfortunately, it seems Anne has reached a point where she is in a terminal dive.

I am not surprised her condition has been downgraded. It takes a while for burn injuries to completely manifest their severity. I do wish her the best.

…Heche’s car rammed through the outside wall, didn’t even slow down, and buried itself in the next wall. (Eyewitness report of neighbor who heard the crash and ran down the street to render aid. He got the trapped woman out, and her pets. Tried to get Heche out of her car but the fire took hold and he had to run for his own life. Los Angeles Times, this morning)

So, not wishing the comatose Heche any ill per se, but my heart really goes out to the woman who just lost her house and almost lost her life. I hope Heche’s insurance and/or estate can make her whole.

I still remember reading about Heche complaining about Covid protocols because they interfered with her son's graduation. Surprised me at the time, but it makes more sense now.

I wish no ill towards Anne Heche, but I wish the OP had instead started a thread praying for the true victim in this case, which is the poor woman who lost everything after Heche was driving 100 mph through a residential neighborhood and crashed into her house. She nearly died as well.

Between Heche's auto insurance and any homeowner's insurance the owner had, the home will be made whole. The owner will be inconvenienced but isn't going to be dead or spend months in a hospital.

Put yourself in her shoes if you can: she faced death and dismemberment up close, and the psychological impact of that is more than an “inconvenience.”

On the other hand, in another 100 mph Los Angeles neighborhood speeding crash on the same day, an entire family was wiped off the face of the Earth as they were on their way to the young mother’s ob/gyn visit to see how her 8 1/2 month pregnancy was coming along. Just Gone. Husband, wife, toddler, unborn baby, and another adult.

The driver (not somebody famous) in that case was scarcely hurt at all due to her airbag system, and on closer examination turned out to have a long string of unsafe driving arrests in other states. As a traveling nurse, her next stop after California was going to be Hawai’i.

So yeah, it could have been worse for Heche’s victim. Much, much worse.

95. I'm sure she was shaken. For her, though, everything can be readily fixed (which is good)

I've been involved in accidents in which I was able to walk away despite the efforts of others to the contrary. In the worst instance, I was the passenger in an early 80s Tercel (picture: very small car) and it was broadsided by a mid-70s Buick (picture - very large car). The Buick was coming from the east - if you are familiar with Berkeley, CA that means down a fairly steep hill. The Tercel was headed north. Our light was green; the Buick's light was red, but neither car stopped. My arm went through the passenger window. I was wearing a seatbelt. Had I not been, the paramedic is convinced my body would have followed my arm out the window and I'd be dead. The drivers of both vehicles were unhurt. The Buick driver turned out to be indigent, uninsured, and homeless. Nevertheless, I suffered very minor injuries, was easily treated and had no permanent issues other than a little scarring. So from my perspective, I've been in those shoes. I count my blessings. I don't dwell on it.

That is a genuinely horrific story. Very sad for all.

So yeah, it could have been worse for Heche’s victim. Much, much worse.

It could have been, but it wasn't. Meanwhile, Heche is facing possible death or a very long recovery that may ensure she doesn't work anymore. I agree - she messed up. People do that, and I'm supposing that if she recovers, there will be legal consequences and civil damages to be paid.

in the fire and those are gone forever. Still it could've been worse, she wasn't killed or injured and neither were her animals.

I'm not praying for selfish rich celebrities who try to commit suicide in ways that endanger innocent people. I'll pray that the person she traumatized will be made whole ans overcome this issue.

with no consideration for anyone else luckily she didn't kill anyone. Just badly injured herself and destroyed someone else's home.

It saddens me that so many in this thread seem to feel a punitive death exceeds the need for mercy and healing.

Guess I'm one of those snowflakes I keep hearing about.

Thank you for your post. I totally agree that it’s sad on this thread that so many chose to express hateful replies.

I do pray. But I give each person the right to be and believe as they see fit for themselves. I think it’s wonderful to wish good things for another - by whatever ways and means one chooses.

Guess I’m a snowflake, too.

Get behind the wheel of a car and turn it into a killing machine. And please Jaysus, keep her in a coma so she doesn't have to live with the shame of being a horrible drunken maniac. In FSM's name we pray, Pass the Rigatoni!

As in, not effective.
