Asha Rangappa: why GOP is rushing out planted evidence talking points --

Text

FYI the reason Trump GOP are trying to push the “FBI planting evidence” story is that they are trying to get ahead of how sensitive the docs Trump was hiding and the million dollar follow up question: Why the hell would he take such documents and what did he plan to do with them?

AND they also fear what sort of incriminating evidence might show up revealing serious crimes, or even complicity by others.

They are following Trump's lead. He sent his lawyers out to "plant" the story because he knows what they discovered.

Hopefully these documents have been recovered, and the damage was stopped.

Which raises the question why has he not been indicted on that charge a long time ago. The answer has to be they are on to much bigger stuff.

Not what was Trump planning to do with the documents? The question is: What has he already done with the documents? He is a class A grifter and there is no way he could possibly sit on a winning lottery ticket. You know he cashed in immediately. But his ego wouldn't allow him destroy the incriminating evidence. In his mind they would never dare to touch him. He would keep them as a trophy.

And while we are speculating, I'm guessing the FBI had other items on their search list besides government documents. The plot thickens!

Paramount is how were they able to get those documents past security? This was a catastrophic security breach where criminal charges must be filed. Those documents at that point had a complete breakdown in the chain of custody. Obviously, there needs to be another level of security established. This can happen when other matters are investigated. Since Trump appears to be a Russian asset, what has Trump.shared with Russia? Could Russia misread that with their ill-advised invasion of Ukraine? This is a far reaching story.

stinks of their own suspicion that the Former Guy has put himself into a stew pot of criminality and implicated his enablers and sycophants. This is CYA moment to confuse the gullible about any questions/answers regarding their own culpability.

I mean how many supporters or donations will you get if Trump is found to have betrayed his own country or collected kompromat on fellow Republicans or used secret intelligence to pad his wallet or any sundry of willful, criminal, traitorous acts?

It's not as if the GOP thinks Donnie is a good guy; they know he's not. So, the likelihood is that there was something nefarious in why Trump held onto those documents and that the documents themselves could implicate him and others in a criminal manner.

What to do? Blame others, in this case the FBI, Merrick Garland, Biden, etc. Anything to dilute the idea of accountability.

It's who they are.

What they were really after was getting those documents back and secure.

Any charges would be a completely different vector, and I don't think they are going to charge that hill.

They might add them to a larger indictment, but I see very little chance they will charge this case stand alone.

And then we are right back to will they ever indict him......

There's a wing that is on board with getting rid of tfg for good. Both sides of the war will still project their crimes to our side. Hence the new talk of assassination attempts and planting evidence.
