NFL coaches and GMs are all about having players who can help them win. If they thought he could still play, he'd have had a job long ago.

(33,045 posts)He is too old to play and has not played in about 6 years.

(24,587 posts)and not playing for six years at least means that's six years where he didn't get banged up or seriously injured. He's probably in better shape than most 30 year old quarterbacks and has less chronic pain to deal with. I'm not sure he will do well, but I sure hope he does.

(17,454 posts)A guy who is going away for the season and a guy who isnt very good. If they want to win any games theyll be on the phone with someone. But its Cleveland so
We moved to Cleveland a year ago from Pittsburgh. Forever Steeler fans but we would love to see that happen in Cleveland! Them hiring that horrible Deshawn Whatever was an incredible disgrace. We just got rid of that horrible Ben Rothlesberger and Cleveland hires that criminal.

And I agree....was never a huge Ben fan....but Cleveland spending a fortune on someone who was possibly going to jail and/or being suspended for a LONG time, hamstringing themselves for a long time, was just so Cleveland that it was almost sad. I really do feel a little for Cleveland fans. Not sure about Kaepernick--he has been out of action for quite some time and was all over the place (football-wise) before he was blackballed. I think he deserves a shot and I'd want to root for him, but then I'd still want Cleveland to lose because they are in the Steelers' division. So I'd be torn. Maybe they could meet in the AFC Championship game and Kaepernick could lead the Browns to a game-deciding field goal--that is blocked
