Trump's current situation and the framing.

With all of the legal activity going on around Trump with his deposition, the execution of the warrant to get back the documents he took and was not returning, and the J6 Commission, this is a very significant story and should definitely be a major topic of discussion on DU.

This is not meant to be in any way and admonishment not to talk about the situation. I would say that this is only my opinion about the framing of a particular aspect of the story, namely, the response from Conservatives/Republicans and Trump supporters (which to me are one in the same at this point).

I would offer only this piece of advice regarding the framing and conceptualization of media coverage, and social media responses. We see a lot of discussion about "changing the goal posts" etc...

I would say, and this is going to seem super obvious to many: Assume that every response from Conservatives/Republicans is in BAD FAITH. They do not want to have any discussion, debate, or conversation that attempts to discern facts and truth. They want to deflect, blame, and misinform. They will project their own crazy ideas onto "radical Democrats" and "Nazi Democrats" and will not answer any questions honestly and in good faith.

I am sure that there will be some, like Kinzinger and Cheney, and a few "old timer" Republicans that think they can "save the Republican Party, and Conservatism from its new home. They are usually irrelevant figures though and do not really matter in the trajectory of where the Party and Movement are going. Cheney is likely gone from Congress next year and Kinzinger we know, is gone. The "old heads" were very likely there and active during the time where Reagan, Gingrich, DeLay, Bush Jr., etc... started lurching the Republicans and Conservatism to its radical iteration. They are pretty much irrelevant.

The major lesson from this ongoing situation is that Conservatism as a political ideology, is morally bankrupt, easily corrupted, and needs to be somehow, swept into the dustbin of history.

I get responses from people about certain talking points, I point out the facts and especially one Meme about how DEMS were the slave owners etc...

SO I said, "Yeah, there were and are DixieCrats, but the Democratic Party made a choice to step away from the KKK and did. NOW the Republicans are deep in that muck. It's YOUR CHOICE people. Are you going to step away from the party of hatred and racism or take it back? Either way, that is up to you.

Just don't project your own crap on our party. WE MADE THE TOUGH CHOICE and you can see in our voting record and history since then that we ARE NOT allowing RACISM to flourish under our watch.

I THINK the Lincoln Group should take back the Party of Lincoln and throw those other bums out.

With Liz and Dick Cheney, they might have a chance.

Conservatism WITHOUT the whole KKK Reich Wing aspect isn't completely horrible. Being fiscally responsible is a good idea. NOW the party who is ACTUALLY behaving that way is the DEMs. But long ago, the conversation was about being able to pay for projects we wanted to implement.

BUT even conservatism needs to be fact based and not trying to undo citizen's rights. They want their 2nd Amendment rights, but that does NOT supersede the rest of the US population's FIRST Amendment Rights.

It's like IVY that has taken over an entire house. YES so much of that is the only thing visible, but at one time Republicans were able to behave in a basically honorable way, though they were much too swayed by money for a long time.

SQUASH THE BUG THAT IT IS NOW? Yeah. They will have to pull the IVY completely and kill the roots, declare the KKK and other Hate Groups as terrorists groups and prosecute them for me to believe that party is back to sanity.
