Why would he** not just turn the docs in?

He could’ve copied them all and still turned them in by now.

Nobody had to “rat” him out. He KNEW the DOJ knew he had them.

So why basically lure the DOJ to his doorstep?

The unquenchable narcissistic thirst for attention? Shits and giggles? Grifting? He’s basically getting free publicity for his socmedia platform. This is not just about those documents for him.

He's working out how to protect his ass.
And I think if we've already gotten one leak about what's in it, we'll get more if he doesn't comply.

complex he's had all his life...and always managed to squeeze out of being held accountable by using lawyers and suits and delay after delay to outlast legal opponents.

He can't outlast the US government though, especially without a crooked AG like Barr to clear things for him.

He's caught and the last thing he wants is the content of what was seized released.

This is huge. He's gone way too far this time.

The Archives heard that he took boxes AND they already knew stuff was missing. Trump, of course, was granted a courtesy and he manipulated or took advantage of it. When they oh so nicely asked for OUR STUFF back he just thought he could asshole them into shying away. At this point it really just Trump trying to show that no one tells him what to do.

With Trump I believe it is easier to assume incompetence rather than any sort of actual plan.

He’s never had to pay consequences for anything. He knows that it always works out for him. From his shady real estate dealings, tax evasion to crimes committed as president.
Like John Gotti, he’s been Teflon Don.
I keep hoping that the Sammy the Bull in the trump saga will appear to take him down.
Why would he? Life has shown him that he can.
