Due to my friend "kpete" informing us that the House Freedom Caucus not going through with their planned press conference regarding the FBI's visit to mar a loga, I have decided to attempt to construct an essay. It is also in response to Saoirse9 messaging me, noting I am being quiet, and asking if I'm okay?
I did take a hard fall last Friday, injuring my knee, shoulder, and head. Then, on Saturday, I was exposed to a person with covid, before they had any symptoms. Despite being sick and sore, I'm pretty darned alright.
There is, of course, a lot of speculation on what was involved in the FBI's serving the search warrant on Trump's property. Let's first consider the republican response. Though the House Freedom Caucus is opting not to speak, a human being formerly named Ricky Shiffer spoke for them. May he rust in pieces.
Because I lack the capacity to speak about anything without focusing on "systems" and/or "history," allow me to combine them. As we know, systems can be understood by using the model of a mobile over an infant's crib. They attempt to maintain a balance. When something or some individual piece or cluster upsets that balance, the other pieces join together to resist the pressure to move off-balance.
We are witnessing an attempt -- primarily by Democrats, although now including a thin scattering of republicans -- to regain the balance that the Trump cult threatens. (Most republicans, as is their nature, are just scattering, trying to find a safe spot in their corn field, where they can repeat poison Trump's fertilizer.) This takes two things to accomplish: time and focus on the rule of law. As Ringo sang, it don't come easy.
In terms of the federal government, that requires a coordinated effort between the three branches. As we speak, the three are "trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored," so to speak. (Note: Steinbeck's classic "The Grapes of Wrath was banned and burned in parts of the United States. You know, the country with Amendment 1.)
Now, let me add a dose of speculation. What is this all about, I ask myself? If a person is waiting tables, and gets a $2 billion tip, they are engaged in more serving a meal. They are serving the person who gave the tip. Now, admittedly, this is just my opinion. I'm more than willing to consider that Jared got this, with no strings attached. Maybe it happens all the time. I don't know. I', asking for your opinion.
History may hold a clue. Back in the days of the Plame scandal, there was another one that tended to fly under the radar. It invoolved a couple lads from a US group that the FBI raided for suspected espionage. These lads were reportedly sharing intelligence on the potential Iranian WMD program. It's happened before, and it is possible that Donald & Co. were attempting -- or engaged in -- something similar. The fellow who gave the $2 billion tip would surely be interested.

(111,110 posts)I like your analogy of Republicans looking for a safe spot in the middle of a corn field.
As for Jared, I think he may have been the middleman between Trump and the Saudis? He may have carried documents to the Saudis? That is just speculation on my part but I agree that no one gives someone $2 billion dollars for nothing in return.
I think it probably had something to do with nuclear power plants. Trump and the Russians were negotiating this deal when Trump stole the White House. The Saudis believe that nuclear power would make them a world power.
H2O Man
(73,616 posts)First, you are expanding on exactly what I think is going on. It is certainly one possibility. So I will expand a bit more here regarding Jared.
You nailed it -- he is a middleman. Nothing about Jared suggests he is an alpha dog. He is the type of bureaucratic dog that is often found beside an alpha. Thus, his service between Trump and the Saudi leader known as MBS, who believes himself royalty.
I'm doing pretty darned good, all things considered. I can't smoke a hit of pot, which would make the discomfort less. But I can eat hashish.
Hey, a question: who do you think is the "rat" in Trumpland? I am interested in your opinion on this. Is it one person? More than one?

(73,616 posts)I'm surprised at how many people have either offered to, or who have brough food here and dropped it off. And I am more than well enough to prepare meals, but appreciate how nice people are. (Not that I keep track, but 100% females.)
Who do you think the "rat" is? Funny calling a person a rat for telling the truth! Reports suggest that this is making Donald paranoid.
OneGrassRoot
(22,920 posts)but I'd be especially tickled if it were Jared + Ivanka, though I really don't want them doing anything to escape justice either, even if it means rolling on Trump.
I'm glad you have so many people nearby who love you as much as we do. Enjoy it!
H2O Man
(73,616 posts)There aren't that many possibilities. So I'm trying to consider what one is most vulnerable to some form of the Reid technique of interrogation. But, then again, it could be somone who simply recognizes that the mad king is out of control.

(6,849 posts)How many have spoken with the House committee, saying more than they even knew? Even Trump's refusal to speak speaks volumes, certainly more facts than when he does speak. Surely his bumbling crew of misfits and the unlicensed mongrels he called a cabinet fumbled their close hold onto bits of info known only to actual witness of events in the Whitehouse.
I'm just about to give in to optimism. If I do, I'll place the blame squarely at the feet of Mr. Garland. Coming soon, I sincerely hope, to a forum near you, perhaps, a formal apology to Merrick Garland for doubting his will of his determination.
Sometimes a rat is a group that becomes known as "Deep Throat," and mistaken for one individual, rather than a coordinated effort.
I think that Mr. Garland ey al understand the national security risk that Trump poses.
kentuck
(111,110 posts)I can only guess who the "rat" is? I do recall reading something about Trump having the White House aides deliver the boxes of documents to him and I wondered if Cassidy Hutchinson was one of those aides?
After her last appearance before the J6 Committee, she was questioned by the DOJ. She may have seen "classified" documents related to "nuclear"? That is only a guess. Also, I think there may have been a Secret Service agent with his eyes open that was on detail at Mar-a-Lago? It's all speculation at this point.
My deep conspiratorial nature comes to fore when I think about Joe Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia and his "fist bump" with MBS, and all the criticism he received for that. Why did he do it?
Was he promised lower gas prices if they could do business with Mr Trump? That would be in both of their interests, and in the interest of Trump. And maybe someone at DOJ saw something more sinister and nefarious in the meeting?
Two weeks after Biden met with MBS, Trump had his big golf tournament at Bedminster with the Saudis.
We don't always know what is going on behind the curtains.
H2O Man
(73,616 posts)I had not thought of that "fist bump." One thing is certain -- we've never encountered a threat to our national security quite like Trump.

(15,952 posts)First off I'm glad you're okay. Sending healing light and love!
I have been contemplating why the documents were allowed to stay in his possession. I've come to the conclusion that the reasoning could be the Feds have been monitoring who's been coming and going to the scene of the crimes. I've heard that the Feds have surveillence video, perhaps that's why.
And I do agree that Jared played a major role in this. Money means everything to these cretins, and why Jared's Daddy went to jail.
I'm also hopeful that depending what were in the stolen boxes that our intelligence agencies can somehow counter act the damage.
I guess time will tell!

(73,616 posts)Money is their god. They worship it. Add that Trump wants to see the world go up in flames.

And about that $2billion "tip".. yeah, that was the first thing that popped into my mind.
H2O Man
(73,616 posts)remember ..... when was the last time that I heard of a waiter getting a $2 billion tip? I can't think of any other time. And I can't get the image of Jared as the bartender in "The Shining" out of my mind.
And thank you!

Great essay especially for someone with Covid. You type well in between coughs.
I think the mole is a secret service agent.
If not it would have to be a member of his immediate circle or family and I cant see them snitching.
Jared or Ivanka would snitch in a heartbeat but I dont see them doing that here just because it might mess up their deal with the Saudis.
I have that song by Lennon stuck in my head now! I will be singing it all day.

(73,616 posts)The Beatles (and post-Beatles) are my favorites. Probably neglected to mention that.
It could be a secret service agent. It would make sense. Or one of Trump's new legal team. Maybe even more that one person.
Think of how paranoid Trump is right now. One report is that he is asking "who is wired?" Ha!

Although this, too, is speculation on my part, I'll bet that Trump is mighty unpleasant to be around now.
There's no doubt in my mind that Jared was 100% involved. He wasn't made "head of everything" for nothing. His father was a criminal. I'm not willing to consider the Saudis gave him $2 billion without wanting something in return.
I think what we find out in the long run is going to be incredulous and historic. How long the "long run" is will be anyone's guess. I do believe that there will be plenty enough in the short run to keep him out of our White House forever.

And I am also willing to bet they've been listening to him as well. His phone, and had a person recording in person conversations.
I think Garland knows what he's doing and we will see something solid in the near future.

(7,817 posts)countries came to him with deals of one kind or another? How many promises did they make to DJT while feeding his ego and bank account? In exchange for...whatever they could convince him of.
After promises of riches and glory, he's probably helpless to resist the lies and arguments that much accompany requests for secrets, favorable executive orders, attention, quid pro quo, etc. He can convince himself he's doing good things for the world by enriching himself. After all, he's Donald and he deserves everything he can get.
He's an easy mark and I doubt Putin was the only one to recognize that.

(12,677 posts)They knew TFG is damaged goods, and neither the Federalist Society or Putin will be able to protect him anymore, so he's of no further use to them and will probably get in the way.
And you're right, I'm not hearing anything about the "waiter" who got a $2 billion tip other than maybe he's cooperating -TFG is no longer of any use to him, either.

(7,399 posts)surprise, or was it perhaps an ongoing operation and he had previously been able to pass on information without much scrutiny?
Was he even selling the information or did Vlad simply call in his debts after Trump lost the election?
My last ditch theory is that he had stockpiled information in an attempt to use it as a negotiating tool against prosecution for something else. That seems a longshot though.
