walk away from the White House with 300+ highly classified documents dealing with the national defense unless they have lost their minds. They just don't. Even by Trumpist standards, they don't. Forget whether it's wrong, immoral, criminal, treasonous, it's just nuts. In his shattered mind, what's left of it, he may have stolen the documents because he believed he was President in Exile and wanted to establish a White House in Exile in MAL. There is no way to know what he is thinking because he doesn't know. He is a feral creature now and a dangerous one. Think rabid...the DOJ is.

(1,429 posts)should have him declared mentally incompetent. Place him in a luxury "rest home" away from the relentless law enforcement agencies that are ready to prosecute Donald.
They would accomplish several things.
1. Mentally incompetent-he cannot testify
2. They cannot testify against him
3. They gain control of the remnants of the Trump Empire.
Being deprived of his adoring cultists and constant media attention would drive Donny to a rubber jacket in a rubber room in less than a year.

(21,450 posts)What Trump is doing now is nothing new or different for him. He takes bold, defiant stands when he is caught. He spins truth and fact or totally makes things up.
That's what he is doing now. Trump does not believe that there is good or bad, right or wrong. In his mind, there are only powerful and powerless, wealth and poverty, winners and losers. What you do and how you do it to be powerful, wealthy, and a winner doesn't matter. The only thing that matters to him is that you always win.
Trump knows no bounds and no limits. Nothing new here. Not insanity. Just Trump being Trump.

(7,432 posts)There is no cure for sociopathy or psychopathy. Trump cannot be viewed as mentally ill because there is no rehabilitation for him if he is declared incompetent and goes to treatment. Hell just become a more illusive sociopath. Trump is a career criminal only amenable to social isolation to protect others from him.

(6,017 posts)A narcissist is always going to harm people. They are fully aware of what they're doing, they simply are convinced that it's okay because they deserve it. It's like selfishness that has no internal restrictions, at all. The Republican Party at this point is soaking in it.
With Trump we had a narcissist with nearly unlimited privilege. It's is sorta like that saying about "absolute power corrupts absolutely".

(70,103 posts)i've had several threads about this, and it disturbs me that so few, even here, see the value of putting this front and center.
he is a sadly typical mad man, and should be firmly placed among their ranks.
may he be such a shining example of insanity that such a man never rises to power again.
put his brain images, and the real results of that dementia screen on my teevee, and i will feel like justice has been served.

Sociopathic, solipsistic, Malignant Narcissist. He cares about nothing but himself. He lies without conscience and he always has.
But he's not crazy. He is rational. It's all in service of himself. He will do anything to preserve his ego.

Thanks to gab13by13 for finding it and posting on DU. should be posted in every post about stolen docs and should be shown every night on news/political shows. Very clarifying regarding the seriousness of the offense.

(4,425 posts)No one has ever been able to say no to him and make it stick. His two senate acquittals and the Mueller report fiasco just reinforced to him that he could do anything he wanted.
He wanted them. So he took them. Up until a few days ago that was working just fine for him. Right now he is having a meltdown, but on some deeper level he fully expects his tantrum to get him what he wants.
He expects the tactics that have always worked for him to work in this case as well. When it finally sinks in that he isnt going to get away with it this time, his behavior will be interesting to observe.

(111,256 posts)and walking away with that stuff was hitting back at a "deep state" that had thrown him out of office and because nothing can ever be his fault and everybody has to love him, the election must have been rigged. The deep state must be PUNISHED.
This is how they think. This is what makes them dangerous, usually to everybody around them. This time it's dangerous to the country as a whole.
The best (and only, really) idea if you ever meet one in real life is to RUN AWAY. We can't run away from this sack of shit. We can only take harmful things away from him and try to isolate him as much as possible. He should not get those passports back any time soon, let the FBI and DOJ return them in as timely a manner as he returned those stolen documents.
These people aren't crazy. However, he's getting there. A little more legal trouble will do it.
My only complaint with the FBI is that they should have done this a year ago. Letting this clown dick around with dynamite for 18 months is simply unacceptable.

I think it's highly inaccurate, not to mention unfair, to lump all the rest of the world outside the U.S. together and say they would all have done exactly as you described.
Are there countries where that sort of thing happens? Yes. Absolutely every single country other than the U.S.? NO. That is a ridiculously broad generalization.
