Officials were reluctant to hand over sensitive intel to Trump because he would blurt out details

Officials were often reluctant to hand over sensitive intelligence to Donald Trump over concerns about how he handled information, The New York Times reported.

The ex-president's habit of hanging on to some documents created anxiety among top officials who had grown hesitant to relay everything to him, the report said, because of his "penchant for blurting out secret information."

Citing former administration officials and those involved in briefing Trump during his time in office, The Times reported that his interest was mostly piqued by information on the private lives of other world leaders.

Trump's handling of classified information while in office is currently the subject of intense scrutiny in the wake of the August 8 search of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate by the FBI. Agents in the search retrieved stashes of highly classified information they believe Trump wrongly took with him after leaving office.

Trump 'devoured' intel briefings as he sought 'leverage' on allies he disliked

Donald Trump's intelligence briefing habits while in office were the subject of a deep-dive by The New York Times published online on Thursday evening.

"As president, Donald J. Trump showed the most interest in intelligence briefings when the topics revolved around his personal relationships with world leaders and the power available at his fingertips," the newspaper reported. "Mr. Trump’s appetite for sensitive information is now at the heart of the criminal investigation into his handling of hundreds of classified documents he kept at his Florida home after leaving office."

Trump was particularly focused on his counterparts on the world stage.

"Mr. Trump devoured intelligence briefings about his foreign counterparts before and after calls with them. He was eager to deepen his relationships with autocrats like Kim Jong-un of North Korea or Xi Jinping of China and to get leverage over allies he took a personal dislike to, such as Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Emmanuel Macron of France and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada," The Times reported.

Blurting out details aloud might have had a secret, evil purpose.

Who brought him documents “Can I keep this?” and they didn’t object!

We’re in the 21st century with over 225 years of this Republic and they have firm rules about counting pages of classified documents and making sure everything is there and in order but a President asks to keep a classified or top secret document and they shrug their shoulders and say ok I guess….

Who were these jokers working in the government and can
We haul them in and anyone down the line who didn’t stop this before he received another sheet of paper.

My God! How far does this go?

And who did he sell the missing pages to?

I remember from early on that traitor couldn't sit through a daily briefing and his advisors ended up using pictures to summarize the information traitor ws supposed to get. Is this story discussing another aspect of information given him?

And once again, hoping those concerned protected the most sensitive information from traitor eyes, mouth and therefore, our enemies.

While Presidents can ask for and view any classified information at any level, information may not necessarily be shown to him unless he directly and specifically asks to see it. If he doesn't know such information is available, he probably will not ask for it. Trump is singularly only interested in things that actively interest him. He is not curious enough to ask for things he doesn't know about.

I know from actual experience that when a President visits a secure place in the intelligence community for some reason, the entire place is "sanitized." That means that all classified information is moved out of sight. Desks are cleared of all documents with classification markings. Computer displays do not show any classified information. The President is shown what he wants to see, but if he doesn't know it exists, he doesn't see it.

So, he can demand to see classified information, but he must request it. There is no reason, however, for him to know what classified information there is, so he often doesn't know what to request.

And that's how that works.

When I was working at NSA, Pence was going to visit late in the afternoon. I was one of the last ones to clear out of my office, which was near the entrance where he was going to arrive. They literally had the doors closed to the hall and were putting barriers over anything that could possibly be seen.

Now, I was there for over 30 years. Darth Cheney used to visit on a regular basis after 9/11, and we'd see his motorcade pull up. He'd just come on in with very little preparation other than the SS blocking off the halls. Same when GWB came to visit. The reaction to Pence visiting was just strange.

for a tour and simulation exercise. I'm old. For my sins, I was detailed to sit at a workstation during the exercise. Nixon stood about six feet behind me, along with a bunch of bigwigs. I got to say, "Good morning, Mr. President" to him, after someone explained what I was supposed to be doing.

Fascinating stuff. I got to do all sorts of things while I was there that were interesting, actually. It was an interesting place.

discomfort and fear for our country vis-a-vis international relations because of the potential criminal behaviour and proven more every day, suspicions of trump as a potential traitor. That trump ever entered 1600 Pennsylvania Ave as a POTUS is slowly being tied to Putin's hack farms who helped install his buddy.

What leverage did he have on his American buddy? The ex-president had made trips to Russia in regard to another trump tower. While there, as we know he is a sexual predator, what video-audio evidence does Putin an ex-KGB director have over a dummy like trump?

And he the con man, head of a grifter family wants permanent leverage over those mentioned here and god only knows who else.

President Biden put the domestic enemies of this country on notice last evening and that helps some.

I just want trump shamed and humiliated completely so that world history never forgets the dangers of a person such as trump.
