UNCERTAINTY. How many times have I heard that the Market hates uncertainty. The fall of democracy would be about the most uncertainty ever. Good for business? Maybe for a day or two. Then...not so much.
What are some other results of Repubs having power that would tank our economy? The list could be pretty long, imo.

(3,750 posts)if the R leadership gets control. Local elections are also involved, of course. If the average voter can connect voting for Rs with the destruction of their "way of life" then they might vote for the correct folks. Sure, the very rich don't care. They will eventually suffer, though. There is no Planet B.
So, how can we scare the shit out of the average voter by painting a picture of the future under R control? The hellscape has the added value of being very likely true.

But if it means socking it to their hated groups, they will take a financial hit.
But it is worth a try scaring them.
Maybe something will sink into their brains.

(3,750 posts)hoping that the non-magat Rs might see the danger to their daily lives. If they just don't vote or if, by some stroke of luck, they decide to actually vote for a Dem then the Dems can carry the day. Hope. If we hold the house and pick up a few Senate seats we can do even greater things than have been done in the next two years. At least. Maybe we can win over some of the poor dumbfucks with actual accomplishments for everyone. Hope again. We must keep the House and the Senate or we are "doomed". IMO.

But some will double and triple down.
And then later peel off.
Yes I think the strategy would be to peel off the cult members in small groups.

(9,500 posts)At least not initially. The danger is that businesses will have to start doing what the neo-fascists tell them to. And if that is giving the part a tithe, or putting party officials on the boards, etc. The 1%'s think they will be in charge, but there is no guarantee that they won't be swallowed up by someone else with more power in the party.
