"SNIP......
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will formally unveil a four-part Commitment to America in Pittsburgh on Sept. 19 to tell voters why they should vote for Republicans not just against Democrats in November, Axios reports.
.....SNIP"
Applegrove: too late GOP has put social security and Medicare, as things to be cut, on the table like a fish monger slapping a fish down on ice. It is going to start to stink in the months to come. Can't take it back.

(21,564 posts)But the media lapped it up and pushed it in the public to help the rethugs. Contract with America was a household term back then.
McAwfully wants to capture that same sentiment.

(557 posts)... The term, Contract ON America. As in, nice country you got there, be a shame if anything happened to it.

(8,964 posts)Abolishing bodily autonomy once and for all, establishing permanent minority rule, and hastening the rate and impact of climate change, not mention caving to a lying, thieving pathological narcissist hell-bent on destroying democracy. Such a deal! Good luck with your smoke and mirrors campaign, Kevin.

(24,468 posts)that was meant to help the broadest amount of Americans possible. Nothing. The Party of no platforms, no policies, no ideas, no nothing....except taxcuts for the very rich. That is it. Their whole reason for existence.

(25,969 posts)I've come to the conclusion that tax cuts and judicial takeover have become their only real purpose. Actual governance for its own sake no longer holds any meaning for them.

(25,969 posts)You got a plan lined up yet, fellas? It's only been about twelve years now.
Two weeks, you say?
Alrighty then.
I don't think women are reassured by vague hand wave-y assurances of "improved health outcomes for all Americans" given the Dobbs decision. Women aren't going to forget just because it isn't on the list.
None of the Republican dog and pony shows actually deliver anything they've promised on paper. However, once they've decided to come up with a catchy title, it usually means everyone (except the wealthiest among us) is about to suffer if they get their hands on the levers of power again.
