Hillary Clinton on her new TV gig, working with Chelsea and the women who inspire her

Hillary Clinton estimates she has been interviewed “more than a million times”. But for her new television project, the Apple TV+ documentary series Gutsy, the former US first lady and secretary of state turned the tables on herself, going from subject to interviewer.

Gutsy, which Hillary is producing with her daughter Chelsea Clinton, is an eight-part documentary series which explores trailblazing women, some famous, and some not so famous. It is based on 2019’s The Book of Gutsy Women: Favourite Stories of Courage and Resilience, co-written by the pair.

But it is also a response to the dramatic shifts in the US in terms of women’s rights and access to healthcare, Hillary and Chelsea say, particularly the decision by the US Supreme Court to overturn the five-decade old ruling on Roe v Wade. That decision, handed down in June, effectively handed the decision back to the individual US states, many of which began to implement abortion bans immediately.

3. Beautiful! Chelsea is smart enough to President one day. But then

she is smart enough to not want to be.
I have been impressed with Chelsea since watching her as a little girl. On at least three speaking occasions when she spoke in public I thought to myself "Hmm...she is going to follow in her mom's footsteps." But then I saw how happy she looks being a mom and supporting her mom's new ventures. Nah...she is ok doing exactly what she is doing.

5. I keep wondering if she is still working in the area of public health.

It was her passion; she has a PhD and was teaching for awhile. I think we need her there as well.

I have been around her a few times and realized she is actually smarter than either one of her parents and that is really saying something. Back in 2007 or 2008 I had a conversation with Hillary about Chelsea and her whip smart talents. We both got a little emotional.
