Anyone who doesn't realize this is brainwashed or brain dead. Look at how Fascism worked out for Germany and Italy. Authoritarianism brings blessings of wealth to a small fraction of the population in the long run. Americans are not used to being ruled by an Oligarch. Things will collapse pretty quickly. Sure, gas might go down to a dollar a gallon to please the plebs but the happy will be short lived. Anger will shut us down and then what? Destroy our democracy and destroy our economy. You need democracy to maintain our standard of living. While I know we need to do without so many things we should choose to do that. The super rich are about to do all the choosing themselves. They will choose poorly.

But if destroyed right now and a dictator installed, capitalism will flourish for about 5 to 8 years. Then it will all come tumbling down in a cascade of overleveraged banks and hyped up stocks. Think 2008 and the great depression combined. We'll have an ecological collapse to, so that will be fun.

But for a few years the oligarchs will be partying down as Social Security money, military retirement and pensions are handed over to billionaires and health care for the middle class disappears. And some folks could make a killing like they did during the roaring 20's and the housing bubble.

PS. we already have an oligarchy. It's what's keeping TFG out of jail and preventing the improvement of global warming.
