If I had a say (I don’t). I’d say skip Charles and go with William. Having Kate will be such an asset for William. I bet overtime, she will be as popular as the queen.

It's disconcerting (for me) watching certain individual threads of quiet consistencies in my life become little more than a memory. Same gray skies in my head as when I heard of Fred Rogers' passing.

He's not a "celebrity personality" but he also didn't choose to be in the public spotlight to the extent he is.

"In the early years, his harshest critics dismissed the young duke as a kind of New Age mash-up of half-baked ideas.

“At the beginning, everyone thought he was crackers, the mad prince who had these strange ideas. They wrote him off completely,” said Penny Junor, a biographer who has written volumes about Charles and the royal family.

“He’s been saying these things for 50 years, but world has caught up to Charles, hasn’t it? she said. “He’s certainly not a crank now.”

"Charles has called for a revolution in sustainability in all things: urban design, corporate production, organic farming, energy generation. He brings together many people, recommends many solutions, most them now viewed as mainstream."

to me. Not only taking money from oil companies for "green" causes, but being great buddies with Occidental's CEO, Armand Hammer, who was a Russian operative, money launderer and all around bad guy all his life.

I hope we can hold off criticism of Charles. He's highly intelligent, wants to slim down the monarchy and may have more ideas along that line that we don't yet know about. I'm not a monarchist, but a little grace period would be nice.
