We are grieving now, and we have many problems but still there is a lot to love about this very big small town. We gathered together this morning ( a lovely mosaic of races, socioeconomic class and color) to honor Liza, and for healing in our beloved city. It was beautiful and moving, and truly representative of this town's spirit.
There were candlelight vigils all over town last night for the victims of the rampage across our city. There is definitely more that brings us together than pulls us apart.
I recently moved back from Portland OR, and heard many of the same things said about that city by folks who didn't live there. I am tired and weary of the turmoil this country is feeling now. I am grieving.
This article sums it up quite well.

(410 posts)And still one of my favorite places to pork out! Yes these problems are not unique to Memphis - I just keep hearing/reading all the negative comments and wanted to defend it. (I've heard them all my life)
And yes there are many good things to focus on, Thanks!
