Another surprise from Ukraine?

Illia Ponomarenko of the Kyiv Independent is the most wired in to the government reporter in Ukraine. He and several others keep dropping hints something big is coming:

I don't know anything but I would think they'd want to secure the nuclear plant.

He also has an invitation for everyone;

I'm going to try to get there.

and the longer the fighting goes on around it the more the danger increases.

I hope they can get to it and secure it quickly.

Which is astounding.

I am hoping they can get to the nuclear power plant next and secure it.

that doesn't mean that something isn't happening. I hope its recapture is close because from the recent UN report, they're not taking very good care of it. It's several times larger than Chernobyl, so if something goes it could be much worse than that.

The advances I've heard of are in the southwest toward Kherson and in the north east, south and east of Kharkiv. But I did hear one report that the Ukrainians have another large force that is not yet engaged in offensive operations. Perhaps the power plant will be its target.

It appears there is another Ukrainian force which has not hit yet a target.
No one knows where it will strike.

I think it should be the nuclear plant area.

If Putin feels he is losing the war I think he will use nuclear threats and weapons.
So the power plant must be secured from that standpoint alone.

Secure the power plant then head to Melitpol and the bridge.

If I am looking at the map correctly and understanding your plans.

Then it looks like Zelensky can wrap it up for the winter.

You know more about it than I do!

I think from all the dead bodies around that fossil fueled weapons just might be a "disaster."

I know that it's not sexy like imagining someone dying from (gasp) radiation exposure, but this is like the Fukushima syndrome, whereupon the entire world burned millions of tons of coal to run computers to discuss whether someone might die from radiation from the failed reactors while no one gave a fuck about the 20,000 people who did die from seawater because they lived in a coastal city.

I think the war in Ukraine, financed ironically by dangerous fossil fuel payments to Putin by "green" Germany is a disaster with our without a radiation leak from the reactors.

I would argue that if the Germans hadn't shut their reactors, Putin might not have had the money for his war.

This might have been an overlooked way, besides being the only effective weapon against climate change and air pollution that nuclear energy would save lives, as it has been doing for decades in an atmosphere of vicious and ignorant vituperation.

I covered the Ukrainian reactor risks here: Some comments on the war situation with Chernobyl as well as the operable nuclear plants in Ukraine.

.... if they can't have exclusive control for themselves only,... then burn it all down to the ground leaving only hot embers remaining.

IF Putie can not have Ukraine to himself exclusively - then destroy Ukraine. Putie will stand back and allow the five nuke reactors to go critical due to the lack of adequate spent rod cooling and allow the reactors to enter meltdown phase. Cheerfully contaminating that side of planet earth just to show the world who is really the big macho man tough guy boss.

What a little twerp.

Drag Putie to the International Court for War Crimes and have him answer for his atrocious actions in Ukraine.

If these despots, dictators, and demagogues don't suffer repercussions. They come back and perpetrate far more heinous war crimes than before.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_Bridge

The Crimean Bridge (Russian: Крымский мост, tr. Krymskiy most, IPA: [ˈkrɨmskʲij most]), also called Kerch Strait Bridge or Kerch Bridge, is a pair of parallel bridges, one road, one rail, spanning the Kerch Strait between the Taman Peninsula of Krasnodar Krai in mainland Russia and the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea, which is claimed by both Russia and Ukraine. The bridge was built by Russia after it annexed Crimea at the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War. It has a length of 19 km (11.8 mi),[d] making it the longest bridge Russia has ever built,[13][e] and the longest bridge in Europe.[14][11][15] Besides transportation, Russia intended the bridge to support its claims to Crimea.[16][17]
