It's very pretty, but is it as good to eat as the sweet corn you find at a typical American farm stand or grocery store?

It looks like it should taste like Skittles

Most or all of it would have been processed in various ways prior to consumption such as making hominy or corn meal.

Soaking in a highly alkaline solution to make hominy or ground into masa for tortillas or tamales. You can buy calcium hydroxide (cal) at many Mexican markets.

Carl "White Eagle" Barnes rescued this, as he has many Indigenous strains.

I remember seeing this corn in the Baker Creek Whole Seed catalogue, so went back to verify. It is available.

..seen in a rainbow, a drop of dew--a visible spectrum of light.

A couple of years ago (pre pandemic) back a friend from a neighboring pueblo gave me a handful of Anasazi beans [ Anasazi is the Navajo word for “the ancient ones,” cliff-dwelling Native Americans who lived in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona around 130 AD.] A speckled burgundy and white bean/ seed..didn't have luck growing though..must have done something wrong when planting. Just a treasure to have been given them to grow..and interesting know that ancient seeds can be rescued, and still used today.

It really does look like glass. It has the same sheen and translucency.

My husband collects colored glassware. You could lay an ear of this corn on the shelf with some of his pieces, and it would look like part of the collection!
