I don't see any justice in this. 15 and forced into prostitution and used by johns. Monsters.
Lewis was 15 when she stabbed Brooks more than 30 times in a Des Moines apartment. Officials have said Lewis was a runaway who was seeking to escape an abusive life with her adopted mother and was sleeping in the hallways of a Des Moines apartment building when a 28-year-old man took her in before forcibly trafficking her to other men for sex.

She should never have been found (pled?) guilty. Given the circumstances it seems like the judge was trying to give her the best outcome they were able to.

(1,920 posts)That is, the 28 year old that raped her and Brooks.
If she had, we probably wouldn't be hearing about it.
An unjust law is no law at all.

(5,125 posts)150 K to the Pimp who put her in the position
150 K to the estate for raising a person who would rape a 15 year old.
If she wins one, she uses it to pay the estate. A draw at the very least where she won't have to pay.
AND if she wins the one against the pimp, she can pay the estate.
If she wins both, she basically voids the estate debt and has money for a new life.
