The answer to this angle of attack is that republicans are responsible for the rise in crime through their actions. Lawlessness is the new hallmark of Republican policy. Its not just what republicans say through their links with Qanon, the proud boys, oath keepers and other MAGA(ts).
Its the dangerous actions, threats and posturing against the fabric of democracy. They will wail about crime, yet think think the riot/insurrection attempt is just fine. The attempted murder of congressional members and Pence seems perfectly reasonable to these law and order republicans. We need to hang around their neck the bell that rings out their hypocrisy.
Across the country the republicans are acting in anti-American anti-democratic, criminally based fashions. From election fraud to physical assaults. From terrorism to demonizing the marginalized. From attacking the education system for being factual to demanding that women return to the status they held in 1840s society.
Democrats must go on offense against the Republican hate for American ideals.

And this was after a decade of record low crime rates. We're still seeing less crime than we did in the 80s and 90s. by a lot.
