Good News: Thanks To Biden, Railway Unions Have Tentative Deal

The unions will have to ratify the agreement.

By Susie Madrak — September 15, 2022
Such good news for workers from last night's railway union negotiations. Via CNN:

Unions and management reached a tentative deal early Thursday, averting a freight railroad strike that had threatened to cripple US supply chains and push prices higher for many goods.

The deal with unions representing more than 50,000 engineers and conductors was announced just after 5 a.m. ET in a statement from the White House, which called it “an important win for our economy and the American people.”

This is what happens when you have president that is engaged to keep this country running.....and to help the worker's.....

-snip-

Here's a key point:

A union source said that Democrats’ refusal to side with management had been a key to the talks.

“Senate leaderership not acting gave space for these negotiations,” said the union source. He said that Walsh had “hung in” with the union during the negotiations.

Give the Biden administration appropriate kudos for their work in averting a catastrophic strike. The last few days have seen the popular media covering the potential damage from a nationwide railroad strike with almost eager anticipation. The administration had a hand in keeping the country running and achieving a major victory for railway workers.

Yes, there's going to be lots and lots of trolling from people who are actively rooting for the Biden administration to fail. You don't have to engage with them. Just post a positive comment about an administration that once again showed what government can do when managed by public service professionals.
