Tr**p Is Making A Mockery Of Our Laws And Law Enforcement Agencies Like The.....

DOJ and FBI.

He's enjoying the fact that as he keeps committing crimes and making idle threats and that these agencies seem befuddled at how to handle dealing with this bully.

I call him a bully - because - as long as he's left unaccountable - he gets bolder and bolder at continuing to break laws and make threats just like a grammar school bully.

We need to stand up to this bully and give him his comeuppance.

Until he is brought to justice - he's going to keep on taunting these agencies, committing crimes and relishing in the thought that he's getting away with it. And as he continues to keep getting away with it - he gets more confidence to even create more havoc.

Just how many laws does he have to break to finally be held accountable and stopped?

Just do it!!! And do it now!!!

become toadies for him - take the loyalty oath.

He's no longer president. He's a common citizen - just like you and I.

It's time to bring down the 'boom' on him.

which were never prosecuted, so whatever corrupting or loyalty oath making he engaged in as POTUS is just icing on the cake when it comes to him mocking the notion of the rule of law in this country. The time to lower the boom on him was back in the 80s. The DOJ and FBI are only as big of a joke as they have made themselves through their persistent tolerance of so-called "white collar" crime.

"When you strike at a king you must kill him" - Emerson, paraphrasing Machiavelli.
Aileen Cannon is just one of 200 Trump judges, so DOJ has to come in with overwhelming force. And if it goes to SCOTUS, Garland will have to literally shame them into upholding the convictions.

Trump is able to, as you say, "make a mockery of our laws..." specifically because our laws while we like to say so, were not meant to be applied to the wealthy and powerful.

The Office of the Presidency has been afforded a great number of protections, and some, rightfully so. We would not want to have a President that was beset with false claims that were politically motivated, to disrupt them from carrying out the policies of the nation. We will get a look at that IF the Republicans take Congress in 2022.

There have been a handful of Presidents who have run afoul of the law, who were never really held accountable. I can think of at least 3 Republican Presidents in the last 50 years who deserved to be indicted. Nixon (no not Watergate) should have been indicted for interfering with the Peace Talks in 1968 that would have gotten the US out of Vietnam. Nixon convinced South Vietnam to withdraw from the Accords for a "better deal" behind Johnson's back, to sink Hubert Humphrey's chances at the office. Ronald Reagan went behind Carter's back and derailed the negotiations for the hostages in Iran to humiliate Carter. Reagan agreed to sell weapons to Iran in exchange for that. He then sold weapons illegally to right wing paramilitaries in Nicaragua. Bill Barr and Bush Sr. closed the loop on those illegal acts by pardoning the criminals involved. Bush Jr. following in his dad's footsteps, made knowingly false claims to get us into Iraq.

Trump was just brazen and unskilled at breaking laws and norms. It was the difference between a burglar who specializes in discreet jobs, and a thug who does a smash and grab.

I don't see that he was unskilled at breaking laws and norms.

In his 'unprecedented' manner - he seems to have known just what loopholes in the laws and norms that he has flaunted when he took office.

It also appears that he's still pushing that envelope but now taking advantage to the fact that he was a former president and he's somehow immune.

In some respects - he's provided a service. Now we know what laws need to be strengthened or changed to prevent any future 'gangster' from doing the same or worse.

Now if he is 'unskilled' but with an ego enough (brazen) to push the envelope - then he had help along the way to point out just what buttons to push to exploit those laws and norms.

Tr**p is an 'enigma'. Is he really dumb? Have dementia? Unskilled and just a narcissist with no conscious OR is he really brilliant and know just what he is doing and how to do it? Or is he just lucky?

I haven't quite figured that out yet. I keep vacillating between all these thoughts.

Think of it this way.

If Trump had been born middle class or working class, do you think he would have gotten to where he is? I think that his family's wealth has allowed him to achieve what he has now. Without it, and with a similar up bringing, but none of the advantages money has gotten him, he would likely in prison or dead (as a result of some scheme).

I will stipulate that Trump has a talent for selling himself. He is very good at branding, and he has above average skills at confidence schemes. He may also have developed the knack for exploiting loopholes in the law, or having people around him who know them.

Like I said, he likely knew, or was told, about the great amount of protection afforded by being a government official. The problem is that he also likely underestimated the scrutiny which he would receive, and really wasn't up to the task (regarding skill and intelligence) to keep himself out of trouble. No other President ever, and I laid out other Presidents who committed serious criminal acts, has been as corrupt.

As you said, he is definitely drawing attention to both, the enormous deference given to the President, and how laws seem only to apply to people without money and power.

He isn't skilled or lucky. He is wealthy, and when you are wealthy, you can afford to buy, or at least to outrun justice.
