News of John Kelly’s surreptitious purchase comes in a new book from Peter Baker of the New York Times and Susan Glasser of the New Yorker. The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, will be published next week. The Guardian obtained a copy.

The book Kelly bought, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, was a bestseller in 2017. In January 2018 its editor, then Yale psychiatrist Bandy Lee, described its aims in a Guardian column.

I knew that a number of people from the Senate and especially the House had meetings with Dr. Lee and other contributors to the book. I'm not aware of any republicans that did, but then again, I don't know the identity of all the Democrats that did. But I do know some that did. Just my opinion, but I believe that after the 2018 mid-terms, the Speaker of the House had better insights on how to deal with him -- including at least once when she played him, causing him to become extremely anger. This is just my opinion.

The Dr. Lee that I know is a gentle, kind, thoughtful person. She is also as tough as they come. The Trump cult feared her, and attacked her at a time when too few people brave enough to speak up for her. Among the most repulsive people to attack her was Alan Dershowitz, who is as shameful an excuse for a human being as Rudy.
