(78 posts)I wonder if the exterior cladding caught and spread the fire, like Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
I hope its an office building only without daycare facilities.

(16,867 posts)but I remember it well. I was leery of tall buildings after that. I'll bet people in China who live and work in tall buildings are feeling kind of paranoid right now. Wonder how many died in this building. What an awful way to go!

(37,040 posts)According to 9-11, it should be falling down any minute now.

(4,443 posts)Way before this according to 9/11 footage. You are right. The question marks are for the mystery surrounding that dreadful day.

(14,951 posts)It wasn't justthe fire that caused them to collapse. It was loss of structurural integrity of the few remaining supports holding the floors above. When those floors collapsed, the ones below pancaked one by one.
Fire alone "shouldn't" cause the structure to collapse. Although that one looks pretty intense.

(14,951 posts)China's style is to execute those responsible for massive casualties. This was likely a combination of corruption and greed in the building and inspection process.
It won't be hard to find someone to blame.

(593 posts)If that building doesnt collapse then I will believe 9/11 was an inside job.

(593 posts)The fire was so much bigger than on 9/11, it had to be much hotter. Believe what you will.

(593 posts)Must have been fairly early in the fire.

(593 posts)I remember someone saying they pulled it. If that meant demolition, doesnt it take several days to set that up?

(37,040 posts)Yeah! I meant a wee bit of sarcasm there.

(593 posts)There are many unanswered questions around 9/11. Obviously, two big jetliners hit the buildings. Other than that, there are many questions. Legitimate questions.

(30,678 posts)I guess that particular structural steel doesn't melt at 1000 degrees. It only happened that one time.
questionseverything
(9,666 posts)But steel is tempered to about 3200
But collapse due any minute

What is usually practiced is a combination of containment (making sure a fire is isolated and can't spread between offices or floors), codes for the flammability of interior furnishings, and fire suppression.
If there were no working sprinklers, and no substantial fire breaks or barriers, and no codes on furnishings, you get ths.
It sounds like it was built under trump methodology. Least cost with no oversight.
